Instead of trying to plan for the year, break it down into baby steps. List all the things you would like to do (make new friends, learn english, volunteer at a homeless shelter, lose weight, read more books, or whatever is important to you). In January, pick just one and work on it until you are happy and satisfied with the results. Move on to the next one when you are comforable with the first one. Do you see what I mean? Maybe you could just spend the first month of the New Year thinking about where you are today, and where you would like to be, and whatever steps you need to take to get you there. That would help you develop your plan. Good luck with your planning, and welcome to Mylot!

Hey, thanks so much for the BR! - I so appreciate it. But, what I said is true, change starts with you, and it starts with baby steps...

You have an issue that can only be solved by setting goals. Make a list, write down why you want to do whatever it is you want to do. Write down what the benifits are, figure out when you want to reach your goal, and figure out what you will have to do to reach it. If you want to quit something think about why. Is it because you don't like what you are doing, or because you didn't get the results you wanted. If you arent' getting results is it because you haven't really given your best effort or is it just not what you were expecting? I'm writing a blog about health and fitness that uses a lot of techniques for setting goals and staying focused. You may not want to get in shape, but you can still use the advice to improve in other areas of your life. www.itfeelsgoodtosweat.blogspot.com It is all about starting from the beggining and teaching ourselves how to become focused on goals and celebrating little successes.
