to be honest it looks like she doesn't have the will power to actually give up, and unfortunatly you either have to let her smoke in your car or just pull over when you can. I personally would tell her that you don't want to loose her from smoke related problems, if she can't give up because her own flesh and blood is asking her too then you maybe have to face it that she is always going to smoke. Remember she has her life just have to be there for her.

Hello.:-) I know how hard it is for you to think of your Mum's welfare when she can't quit smoking. I almost lost my father because of excessive smoking, too. his lungs were badly affected due to years of smoking. He was just lucky he survived.Maybe, it is his will to survive that made him decide to quit smoking by himself.Nobody told him to do so or force him to quit. But with the help and support of my Mum he passed the ordeal with flying colors. His younger brother who is a chain smoker for God knows when, did try to do the same. But instead of getting himself in top shape, his conditions worsened. And, he became so sickly. His system must be so addicted to nicotine that it had reacted that way. He goes back to smoking and never complained of any illness anymore. I'm not saying your Mum's case is hopeless but I guess you need to see an experts advice for this.... Goodluck to you and your mum...

My daughter tried again to stop smoking. She didn't last long. She has been smoking for about 25 years now. It is very tough to stop. She has tried Nicorette and she said it was like licking an ash tray. She has also tried Wellibrutin that is supposed to help smokers. It made her very emotional and panicky. Not fun! So now she paranoid about trying other things. I have stopped and so have my mom. Both cold turkey. I think you have to be ready and committed. Then you get your doctor on board and do some research and just do it. You have to be ready and disciplined. Not an easy indeavor at all.

if it bothers yo so much then how can you still do it. maybe have someone hide your cigs for a few days and keep busy doing something else. see what happens. keep your hands busy and maybe try gum. its just a really bad habit and causes so much health issues. god bless. have a happy new year.
