unemployment denial

how can an employer say they offered you work when they did not and then tell unemployment that u are denying work? heres the story.... so im unemployed for a while and well i decide to deal with a temp agancy to days later after registering with temp aganecy i get a call at 9am saying can i go to work for them right now(they say it may last for 3 days). i go to the place and work and before the day ends the lady tells me that this was the only day i was needed for. so im like do you have any opening within your company else where. (you know to keep my options opened). well they say no not at this time. so the next day i go to the temp agency and hand in my time sheet and ask the lady if they have anything else. she said no not at this time but they will keep me in mind. she said there was a tax prepare course. but not sure when. well i get the call the next day about an interview for the tax prepare course. remember this is only a course. she gives me the phone number of the guy to contact for directions. i call and tell him that this agency told me to come in for an interview but to call him for directions on how to get there and any other questions i may have. thus i called him and told him how i was unemployed i needed a job. how i am searching on my own but also having temp agency help me. after going through my qualifications with him he did not think that this course was going to help me at this time since i am unemployed and since its not a guarantee for work. he was thinking and said wait there is a receptionist position coming up soon and i would like you to apply for this. he said not to come in for the interview and that if it was through his office i would interview with him for the receptionist position otherwise i would be contacted by human resources. thus i listend to him. i called the temp agency and told her what happend and how they wanted me for a receptionist position instead. so she was like ok. i asked her to keep me in mind for any other positions and she said ok. well i did my weekly claim for unemployment for that week since i just lost the job and my claim was still opened. wouldnt you know the temp agency told them i denied work from the first company i worked for 1 day instead of 3 days (not my fault) and then with the tax preparer course. the temp agency said that this was a guarantee job and that i denied work with them. it was only a cours and depended on how high you ranked after taking the course as well or openings to get the job. was also told its a 6 month course. at this time i have not gotten paid for 3 weeks of unemployment. i got a letter from the first place stating they did not need me for the 3 days cause the person came back earlier then expected(only for the one day). then about h & r block how i denied that job. i did not. but i did apply to the receptionist position as he asked me to and still am waiting for the word on this position. in the mean time i have no income and well i didnt get nothing from dept of labor either. they say its coming. its been 3 weeks. I followed up with the temp agency about an accounts payable position i was still waiting for word with them on as well. well i found out that my account was inactive for a while and that there is a note for me not to be rehired. so how can they say i deny work when they dont even hire me for anything. so do you think the temp agency will win? also to note the human resources lady from h & r block is helping me and knows i have applied to them. do i have a leg to stand on? please please help. thanks.

It sounds like they didn't even keep notes or remember one person from another. Sounds like they are just doing time not doing a job at all. I would call them and ask them! What right do they have to put virtual lies in your history that could hurt you? I would keep notes and track of everything that goes on. Go above their heads and tell those people your concerns. And talk to Job Service too! Don't let them get away with this! It is YOUR future at state here!

Thanks celticeagle, yes i got all the information i need hopefully to win this case. im still waiting for the paper work from unemployment and its going on 4 weeks unpaid now. so crazy. i have the interview with h&r block for the receptionist position that they told me to go instead to on monday. im hoping for the best. the lady from that company can not believe the temp agency lied like they did. she was furious especially when they are misleading candidates saying the tax course is guaranteed work. she also says how when she called the lady at the temp agency for really upset and defensive. i guess the temp agency took notes but they are untrue what they have put up on there notes. its crazy. i talked to the unemployment person who helps find work and can not beleive the temp agency is doing this. i told him that im still waiting for a denial letter so i can go to the next step. come on its been 4 weeks. i have applied everywhere and also out of state. i am thinking of relocating. im so frusterated. i have lists of all the places i have applied to and now that i have been trying to get work. its really sad temp agency try to ruin peoples lives. they say they help people..... thats still in question. thanks again for your great comment and help.

I would sign up at another temp agency. There are probably dozens in your area. I can't believe they are doing that. You should talk to The BBB too.
