I have been on a very large journey over the last year or so to find my spiritual side. I have known for a long time that it was in me but my past overshadowed it and would not allow myself to open up to anything that has to do with religion or spirituality. My father and brothers joined a cult when I was young and I was force fed a dark religion which quickly tore my family apart. For many years I thought all spirituality was a joke and only would lead to bad endings. But now, my journey has been very exciting and I am embracing the positive energy I am now emitting to all those around me. I have noticed here on myLot that there are a lot of people with deep found, diverse, religious and spiritual beliefs and would love to hear about the journeys that people have gone on to reach their own understandings. Please share with me, I am ever so curious!!!

I am sorta on the same path just starting my journey. In my childhood there was alot of arguing over differences in religion so ive always stayed away from it. Now im just at a point in my life i need some direction. I have so many choices to make that will effect everyone around me and i just need to have peace before i can go down this road. I actually posted a new discussion about learning meditation, is one of my new years goals. Im not sure where my path will go to find what im looking for but i find it interesting to see someone else has taken the same route. Its really neat to hear your able to find that positive energy and use it to emit to those around you. Good Job im sure its not an easy road.

I agree about needing some direction. It is amazing how much our choices effect others, even when we don't realize it, it does. I have been meditating now for about the past year and I have found much peace from it. It is an amazing experience when you get it. I would suggest starting small. If you light a candle, much like your avatar, and use the flame as a focal point you may have more success. It is a wonderful way to start. Find a mantra that fits you and your personality and quietly recite the mantra, clearing your entire mind. I use my meditation time for the sole purpose of connecting with the positive energy around me. My family's experience really tainted me and my perception of spirituality. I really was jaded and wasted a lot of time trying to avoid that side of myself. I feel like I shoved it away and that I really tried to bury it. I am beginning to find a natural groove when it comes to being positive, and grateful I might add. Hopefully we can learn from each other! It is nice to find someone on a similar road!

Everyday should be a journey for every Christian. It will always be a fearful for all christians if their heart is in the right place. Fear and obedience of and for The Lord needs to be inside everyone everyday. Prayer or talking to Jesus should be as if a person is talking to their best friend on a daily basis. Don't be shy about letting love be shown to everyone you meet.

I totally agree with not being shy about letting love be shown to everyone I meet! That is a wonderful way to phrase that. However, my journey does not include the Christian way of thinking all that much. My journey is not leading me to The Lord. I really can't imagine fearing a higher power. Nor, do I feel I need to be obedient every day to the Lord. I appreciate Christian values in many ways, but it just is not for me and my thinking. I do also agree, however, that everyday is the journey! Thank you for your response and keep letting that love shine!
