flashes of light in the corner of the left eye

I've been experiencing these flashes for almost two weeks now. I know that I have to go to a doctor to have my eye examined. Per my research, it's one of the symptoms of retinal detachment where the retina is lifted or pulled away from its supporting layers of tissue. It can cause permanent blindness. And this really scares me a lot. This condition is called photopsia. There's a lot of commonly associated disorders on this. I don't want to be blind. Is anyone here have these flashes too?
