I just thinking quite sometimes that why when we are in college we continue learning some minor subjects which gives us sometimes headache. It's because college time is the best time to pursue our skills or profession. Like in computer programming. I must focus ourselves in programming subjects not in minor subjects. And when I apply jobs in my profession, there is no minor subject included in our exams and interview. Why is that happened? Can anyone explain without any harm.... ^_^

Hi! I'm also puzzled at the teaching of college! However, if you are bad at some basic course, maths for example, you'll hardly to study your professional course!

Yes your correct. The subject gives me a headache is general psychology. Since Start of the classes until Semester break. We only have reporting class... I think this is ineffective way of teaching. thanks for your message ^_^

i hope you don't consider this biased but i really think they give all those extra minor classes to 1) make up the credits you will need to graduate and 2) to just mess with us mentally..

in college and also in schools , we have to study subjects which are not related to our future professions or future options , but we have to have the basic knowledge of these minor subjects too. As people say that study never goes lost, it will benefit you anytime in your life.

it may be that the minor subjects that you are talking about is not needed in your course.. i do not know which subjects you are talking, you may be talking of theology or religion, which is important in your life, it maybe english, math or any other. sometimes you may not realize it now while you are a student but when you graduate and experience the real world, you will say ah.. ive taken that up.. or i remember.. or we had that in college. enjoy your life while in college. it may be different when you are working already.

Hey thanks for your reply. Actually I am talking with my minor subject which is General Psychology. I already knew that it depends to the teacher oh how they deliver the lesson. During our classes until the end of semester, we tackle only in reporting(every student must report a topic until the end of the semester) which is teacher's responsibility. We don't have any book to refer. Once again thanks for your concern.

Developing all-round is the aim in the college life,so we mustlearn the "minor" subjects,we also use the knowledge from the minor subject when we work in our position. We hope our life is colourfull, and the knowledge should be colourfull!

It confused me too when i was in college. And you will know,Many subjects you learned in college is invalid in your work after school. In my personal view.it may contribute us some different thinking pattern about the same question.Hower,i'm chinese.i don't know whether the course arranged in your country is same to mine.

You'd be surprised how many college students still suck at basic math, english, and other "minor" subjects. College doesn't only teach you how to pass exams or land a job, it equips you with things you need for the rest of your life. If you want to be a programmer, do you think you can get by on how to effectively present software proposals for business deals with only your highschool communication skills? How about the economics of your income and salary? Life goes on after passing exams and interview.

hi thanks for your wonderful reply. Based on my experience during my college life. It depends on the teacher on how they deliver the lesson to the student. Sometimes lazy mentor keeps us suck. Like our mentor in psychology. Each of us having a report and until the end of the semester. Only students specifically our schoolmate discuss the topic supposed to be the teachers responsibility. I hate ineffective teacher. Once again. thanks for the message.
