Titanic - is it worth the hype?

While it does depend on the persons taste in movies , I would say Titanic is worth it in my opinion . The reasons why are because the acting in it was really good , the storyline was amazing , and James Cameron did a really good job directing it. But like I said it really depends on your taste in movies though .

I heard a description by someone once that the reason that Titanic did so well is that it got the teenage girl market which would love going to see the love story with Leonardo DiCaprio over and over again. Then most action movies are targeted at teenage boys with special effects and fighting which is another huge market. Avatar combines both, so they get both target groups. The merits of both movies, the acting, direction, script are going to have people that like and dislike it. Titanic is a huge movie, true epic, in it's scale following the lines of classic movies like Gone with the Wind, Casablanca which uses a historical backdrop to show the personal conflicts within people(story could happen anywhere). Avatar is the other type of epic, a struggle for survival in which a few members of the invading/attacking force starts to question their role, this follows the line of Dances with Wolves, Platoon and others. Now are they worth it, well that depends on if you like the genre, cult movies like Donnie Darko were box office flops yet were popular after, so who knows.

i Dont know if it is worth all the hype. But what i will say .Is the ending to that movie and the effects...are awesome. It brings a tear to your eye. thinking what it must have been like for those people who really where on that ship.

well i reckon titanic is a part of the history and its quite interesting story and they got basis on it i can say that titanic is a love story classic while avatar is a new movie and its a great one for its effects. i haven't seen avatar yet but i am sure it is a great movie for its been a talk by many for a while

Avatar is closing in mainly because its new and fresh. the theme of both movies are completely different but you can't argue that Titanic will be an all time classic. we'll have to wait and see about avatar
