what do you normally do on your parents' or close relatives / friends death anniversaries? I mean, how do you remember them and do something to remember and/or pay homage to the departed - do you pray for them ? For my parents' & grandparents death anniversaries we start the day with prayers for them and then prepare their favourite dishes and then pray again for them - remember them more on that day.

I am still blessed enough to have both my parents, but some of my other relatives I was very close to have passed, and when their anniversary or birthdays come up I just usually do something to honor their memory. It could be something as small as having a family dinner with dishes inspired by them, and conversation about the good times we all had with them. Or more traditionally if I am in the city of their burial I will go to their graveside and pay my respects in honor of the date. It really doesn't matter what is done so much as you honor them by keeping their memory alive.
