Do you feel embarrassed when someone reads your diary or blog?

Yesterday, I helped my cousin start her own blog. When she was typing her first blog post, she told me to walk away so I wouldn't read what she was typing. I feel this way often. I am a very private person, I can talk the hell out of me, but when it comes to personal thoughts and feelings, I don't share much. That's why I have a diary and a blog. My journal contains a lot about what I think and feel. As much as possible I make sure that it doesn't get read by anyone. About my blog, I just set it up last month. But my sister doesn't even know about it. If she reads my post especially in my presence I would blush and shrink to embarrassment. Some of the posts are about her. Maybe the people that I know would probably be surprised by what I write about, or even by the way I write. I talk to people in our language but my blog is 90% English. I know it's kinda ironic to set up a blog that would be seen by the online community yet I wouldn't want to be seen by a few particular people. Have you ever felt the same? Or am I just making a big deal out of this?:O

I can understand where you are coming from, and it is indeed easier to let total strangers read your feelings but not those who actually know you. That's because there's a cloak of anonymity online, and if those people don't really know you, they can't tattle on you to others that you might be venting about. Personally, when I write online, I am prepared for those nearest and dearest to me to read it, since I know when it's on the world wide web, I lose control over who may or may not see it. However, when I write under a nickname then I feel that I can be more honest, and the persons that I am writing about will not know that it's me. And it helps to have other people to share certain things to, that people immediately around you might not understand.

That is exactly what I am talking about. But then I guess I have to get away of that shyness and start being confident about my blog. Thank you. :)

read the diaries of people without permission from the owner of the diary, for me, it was the same as stealing. Makes difficult the owner of the diary, among other, make the owner became shame .... but related to a personal blog, why would you create a blog if it can not be read by someone else??

Well, if I am willing to write something in a blog, and the blog is for public to read, why would I feel embarrassed by it? I have even shared my blog with my family members and close friends. They are apparently appalled by what I wrote, and my writing capability. Don't get me wrong though. I am not trying to boast to anyone. I am merely letting others to find out another side of me.

Maybe it's just me. There's nothing wrong with my blog, and it's full of positive things. Yet I feel shy about it. Thank you for your insight.. ;)

I don't know why you feel like this, has anybody seen your blog? I am also like you. A very private person, I could only talk with stranger by sharing scenarios and what to do, but of course not to trust them 100%. I would really be shy if someone in my family read my blog because I don't even bother sharing my feelings with them also as well as speaking english with them.
