OK two weeks ago i took my son to the doctors he has a really bad ear infection and it turned out that he punctured his ear drum. They put him on an antibiotic and told me to keep his ear clvered to prevent any toxins from entering his open canal.. then 10 days later i took my daughter his twin sister to the doctors for she was actin as if she had an ear infection as well. turns out she did.. the day his cleared up she started one. We now know the cause of my sons ear infection and why it punctured but not sure as to why my daughter got one. Someone told me that ear infections can be passed on from person to person if they are close, as in the twins.. i think that this is bogus but yet i think it could be possible as well.. any one have any input on this? thanks in advance

yeah any infections can be passed between people also with ear infections the ear nose and throat are all linked so quite ofetn you also get a throat infection if you get an ear infection, my eldest had a ear infection and same thing then my middle got one then my youngest he he he

As Jae said the ear infection itself is not contagious but the cold that they most likely had before the ear infection is and if the other child picks up the cold and is unable to get over fast can have it settle into an ear infection also.

From what I've been told and read about my own kids' ear infections. No, ear infections are not contagious. Though the cold that lead to or accompany the ear infections are.
