How do you use your internet?

Hello, I am a heavy internet use myself and highly dependent on it. I do most of my research activities over internet. I wanted to help my students and all those who wants to have an elementary understanding about the technical jargon we hear all the time in our academy and media. So I made my own blog. I've also introduced a self motivational blog where I discuss meditations and other related stuffs. I also chat and stay connected with most of my friends through internet. I consider internet to be an inexhaustible knowledge base. How do you use your internet? How many hours do you spend on it? And how do you think the internet should be used for education, entertainment and other purposes? I would appreciate and honest and detailed response on this topic and I know I will get some. Take care God bless you all

Hello :) Like you, I feel that the internet is a vast and versatile resource for many things. Since I am a writer, I do my work online, hence I am online 10-12 hours on an average day, with some short breaks thrown in. I use the internet for research, for learning and communication, for keeping up with the news, networking, e-mailing, and for work, of course. I write free-lance articles for a number of online article sites, and have 5 blogs/websites of my own. I also use the internet to listen to music and for shopping and sometimes for making free long-distance calls and keeping in touch with relatives, friends, and clients. Mylot is where I come online simply to learn, to relax, and to interact with others. I love the internet and all that it makes possible for us. Even the youngest of my grandchildren use restricted internet for learning, and they are prolific in our schools, even for those in kindergarten. Karen

Ack! Such high praise makes me blush, but I humbly thank you. I wear glasses for work, and they have a special lens coating to reduce glare. I also remember the rules: do not forget to blink, and every 20 minutes or so, stare into the distance to give the eyes a break. And yes, I take writing very seriously. The sites I write for require tax information, do plagurism checks, require research, named sources, etc. I write more casually on my blogs, but still with accurate information. My poetry and other creative writing, that is where I take the most license with language and style :D In all of it, I cannot vouch 100% for grammar, spelling, and typos lol. They happen to us all, but hopefully, not too often. Thank you again for such high marks. Karen

Hi, Bitter experiences make the ignorant people rude and frustrated. But its the same bitter moment that makes a wise wiser. I am sometimes amazed at your humbleness. I would like to read more of your articles and I would also like to have a chat with you over yahoo if you may allow me. I think I have a lot to learn from you. I know a person like you must have many good friends. You truly have a charismatic personality. God bless you

Hi, I used to think that you were a bit casual writer. But the fact that you are so serious about your writing comes as a very pleasant surprise to me. I've done so many conclusive research on internet. Yes, it is the most effective way to convey your views and to learn from others at the same time. But 10-12 hours a day at your age? Uhm.. Are you not concerned about your eyes? I mean I already have myopia, and sitting in front of computer for such a long time could give me a headache. I've been reading your recent reviews, comments on myLot and I unanimously agree with others that you are the best among my known myLotters. Thanks for your contribution in the discussion God bless you BB :)

I use my Internet in many ways. First of all, it is a fiber optic connection because I use a device called an ooma which requires high speed Internet connections. I use my Internet all the time; at least 6 hours a day. I use the Internet mainly as a source of knowledge and opinions. The Internet can be used for anything; that is what makes it so great.

You make a good point, but...I love the "feel" and smell and such of real books, real pencil and paper, real journals too much to give those up :))

Yes Karen, And there is the other thing. You do not have to sit straight to read a book. You don't need glare protectors and most of all you don't need to think about the electricity bill. Though they take lots of natural resources, I think printed stuffs are better. :) BB

Hi, Nice to know that internet is serving very positive purposes to yet another friend here. Yes, its really hard to imagine oneself without internet in these days. Staying connected with friends is the most amazing thing the internet has to offer. There are so many ways you can have access to its wide knowledge base. The more you read, the more you get interested. This is lot easier than the conventional reading methods depending on text books. And most of the resources here are entirely free. Thanks for the response Take care God bless you

Hello Getbiswa, Interesting question. I have cable high speed internet. Id be so lost if I didnt have it anymore lol. I use it all the time. 1. to work, 6 hrs/day. 2. to search for recipes, at least once a day. 3. to read my emails, reply to them. 4. to keep in touch with family via emails or messengers. 5. to be able to not pay long distance calls using my internet. 6. to keep updated on just about anything. Whenever I need to know something, I reach for my computer to search. 7. to watch music videos. 8. to exchange and make a little money on Mylot.

Hi, That was very concrete and candid response. I really appreciate it. And yes, all you've mentioned here are some really good things about internet. I wonder what I would do if I didn't have this internet connection. It is just like a friend to support you. I mean, sometimes it serves as a way to talk to your near ones especially, there are some moments when you feel real need to talk to somebody and internet is right there for you. It is indeed an infinite source of knowledge and there are very few people who at least for once in their lives didn't take its help. Great response indeed God bless you

I use the internet for just about anything I can. I use it to learn. You can find nearly any piece of information you want on the internet, as long as you are willing to look for it. I use it to keep in touch with my family and friends. I will send e-mails or instant message someone before I call them, unless it is important. I use it to find things I need, like which company sells a certain thing or what the phone number for the local auto shop is. I use it to shop, pay bills, play games, read stories, watch movies, listen to music, meet new people, etc. The list goes on.

Hello, Sounds like you depend a lot on internet. I completely agree with you on what you've mentioned here. Yes, there is no doubt about the fact that internet is the best and the easiest way to find any piece of information. I think the primary purpose of internet is to provide information on just anything, and that is the beauty of it. The knowledge base is increasing each day. At every minute a person like you here is contributing to its pool of information. That is exactly why, it is infinite. Thanks for such a wonderful response God bless you

Hello, Welcome to myLot. I don't think that the information and other resources are always very clean here. It entirely depends on the sort of things you look for here. There is a dark side of internet too. I've often seen people getting quite obsessive about things, especially bad things that are available over internet. Time comes when they even loose the sense of good and bad and start to think that whatever they are doing is actually NOT BAD at all. Thanks for the response Take care

Hello, Welcome to myLot my friend. Social networking is a very crucial part of internet. I have my own experience about social networking. When I was planning to take admission in couple of universities for my PhD, I used the get dependable information from a social networking site. These information I got from up there were more genuine and conclusive than those I got from individual university sites. I will always be grateful for this. That was a serious purpose that was well served by the site. Of course, social networking is fun. Thanks for the response Take care God bless you
