Are you a vegetable eater? Not a vegetarian, just a person who includes vegetables in your daily meals? Do you try to make sure you eat vegetables when you can? Do you think vegetables are helpful in our daily diets?

I think vegetables is very good in our daily diets because it adds some extra vitamines and minerals which we dont get from other kinds of food. I eat alot more vegetables now than i did just 2 years ago, but some days i doubt i eat enough of them.

...Hi Downwindz, Vegetables as you say do add vitamins and minerals to our diets, we do, as I mentioned elsewhere here, we have to watch that we don't overcook our vegetables and take all the vitamins out of them. Try to use the leftover liquid from cooking them, to take advantage of the nutrients left from cooking the vegetables. You are probably doing better than most of us, in including more vegetables in your daily meals. Take care and thanks for sharing.

....Hi there TAZNEM, From your response, I would think you are absolutely getting in the required amounts of fruits and vegetables in your daily diet. We do have to be careful when we cook our vegetabkes that we don't overcook them and leave all the vitamins in the juices in the pot or pan. The vitamins, they say are just beneath the skin on the vegetables and fruits, so leaving the skin on sometimes when we cook vegetables might be a good idea. Thanks so much for your reply, and take care.

Yes I eat vegetables a lot but I'm no vegetarian. I cook vegetables everyday for lunch and or dinner. I grow some vegetables in the garden. And I buy fresh veggies from the farmer's market twice a week. I prepare vegetable salad as well. It's always nutritious and much cheaper when including vegetables in the meals.

.....Hi there sandyman16, That is a very good point about the inclusion of vegetables in your daily meal is more afforable. It is also very filling and nutritional as you say. I like most vegetables, I love homemade vegetable stew or soup. That's a meal in itself. I always admire anyone who can grow things for themselves. My grandmom's had farms in Georgia and they would harvest the vegetables and can them for the winter. That is very cool to me, to have certain vegetables in an off season. Take care and thanks for your reply.

...Hi yogambal_64, That part about roughage is so important to having a good healthy body. Thanks for mentioning it. I had a problem once, which was the result of not gaving enough fiber or roughage in my diet. We tend to think eating is all about what we like to eat, hamburger here, french fries there, certainly we should have our treats here and there, but we should also pay attention to getting the nutrients that we need as well. So that we can be more productive in our daily lives. Our energy comes from the food we eat. Vegetables are very helpful as you say. Thanks and take care.

Yes, I do think vegetables are important. I have read all articles on helath and diseases, home-remedy, etc, and I know that there are vitamins and minerals as well as other elements that meat doesn't have to care for our body. when you are young, you don't notice any difference but when you get old, yes, you really can suffer the ailments. So nowadays I do try to maintain a balance in my food, and add more veggies into it.

...Hi there Godmother, Everything you say is important. We do need the vitamins and minerals that are in vegetables to keep us healthy. Something we sometimes don't pay attention to, is how we cook our vegetables, by cooking them too much we lose the nutrients in them. So maybe use the juice for a soup or something. The other thing we don't pay attention to, is peeling our vegetables, the nutrients are directly under the skin, so better to scrub and cook peelable vegetables with the skins left on, rather than peeling them and actually throwing away the best part of the vegetable. Thanks so much for your insightful response. Take good care.

I am by no means a healthy eater, but I make it a point to eat vegetables every day. I keep a large variety of frozen veggies in the freezer so I can throw them into almost any meal. I also try to keep some fresh ones to snack on late at night. Popcorn or chips usually win that fight, but we cant all be perfect.

...Hi jhess3366, We all, I think try to do the best we can with our eating habits...well...as you say sometimes we get the munchies and give in, but you have to have a treat every now and then "o). But vegetables can be fun, I love homemade vegetasble soup, with a little beef, and bay leaves, it is very tasty and it fills you up. Remember to take the bay leaves out before eating. My aunt used to make glazed carrots that were great. You sound as if you get your share of vegetables, which is good. Love that popcorn! Take care and thanks for stopping by.

I always envy those people who likes the taste of vegetable because vegetables are really good for our health. My father used to tell me to eat vegetables so that I will not become sickly but no matter how I tried to like it, I just couldn't. When i was young, my parents provided me with meat and other meat products for meal and so I got used to it. I never really liked eating vegetables ever since I was young. Well, I sometimes eat vegetables but only chosen ones such as potato and some green leafy vegetables. Now that I am already matured enough to be aware of the advantages of eating vegetables, I always do my best to include it in some of my meals, though not on a daily basis. But to compensate with that, I often eat fruits such as banana, mango, and apple. I also buy and drink milk almost every night. I know that these foods are still not enough because vegetables are missing but at least. I will just keep on trying to love vegetables.

...Hi pentagan, I can understand, because if you get used to the taste of certain things when you are young, it usually sticks with you. Try making vegetable stew for yourself, carrots, celery, bay leaves (take out before eating), potatoes and tomatoes (add toward the end), a little cubed beef (cook for a while first, then add veggies), salt, pepper. This is a meal in itself and you have the flavor of the beef. Chicken can be used as well in place of beef. You may increase your taste for vegetables with a homemade stew. The fruit inclusion is very good. Keep it up. Take care and thanks for responding.
