Back in high school, I was only listened to punkrock music genre. At that time, there is some kind of culture in my high school that a boy should listened music in punkrock genre. If not, a boy will be insulted for not listened to a punkrock music. Nowadays, I keep listening to punkrock but I also listen to other genre such as alternative, rock ballad, even classic and pop songs. What about you guys? What is your favorite genre, and what do you think for someone ever insult other for being in other kind genre?

I've gotten a lot of crap about "labeling" music genres- like "hardcore," "metalcore," "sreamo" and whatnot- but I've never been insulted directly for liking a certain type of music. In high school almost everyone I know "labeled" a band's genres differently; everyone was always fighting about it. I still see a lot of people on social sites (namely on Youtube- the video comments) of people fighting over what is and what isn't part of a genre. I think it's really childish- music is just music! w

you are quite true about this. Music is music. And other people may like other kind of music.

I don't really have a favorite genre but it kind of hurts my feelings when people insult my favorite band, or just flat refuse to give them a chance. Partly because their music has come to mean so much to me over the years, partly because they are some of the most amazing, kind, appreciative people I have ever met. But I don't think musical tastes is any reason to insult anyone. You only like what you like, you can't pretend to like something because it's "what's cool" .... well, you can but you're going to get really sick of pretending after a while. And the kind of music a person listens to doesn't reflect on their personality or who they are.
