Being Frugal? Or stretching the Dollar? Or both?

My husband and I made a promise to each other not to go out to eat. IN return we'd save bout 3k a year from doing so. So far 19 days no dining out. And with this process we have also become coupon freaks. Just clipping out coupons and using a bunch. Saving on grocerys so we can cook healthy meals weekly and having fast meals so if we feel like... going out to eat... we don't fall back in that pattern. So within two weeks of grocery shopping with coupons and sales we have saved about 250 dollars off our grocery bill. And on top of that I called our cable company bout getting our internet lower with Charter. And signed up for a two year guarrentee.. Are bill went from 55 bucks a month down to 29.99 a month saving us 25 dollars. And I also called our cell phone company to get our rate changed because we just don't use them that much. Went from about 95 to 110 bucks a month down to 70 to 80 bucks a month. So with both about a total of 40 bucks a month saved. I think doing these small things would be living frugal but also learning to stretch the dollar. Something we haven't done in quite sometime. But by doing this we are learning to appreciate the things we have. And appreciate the times we are allowed to go out to eat such as special events. What do you think and would you consider doing this to save money for your desires? Such as Kids? a house?

Yes, this is important to save money in any way possible. I cut whatever corners that are possible. It really helps. That way, I have extra money that I can put into the bank. To save for something that I would like to get down the road. Who knows what the future may bring. It is always nice to have some extra money squared away for another day.

yes it is nice to have money for a backup or for something fun to do or something you really truly want. It also gives us appreciation for the items we do take the time to save up for. Which of course adds even more joy with the item.
