Which do you prefer, instant or the real deal? and why?

I totally prefer the real thing, it tastes better and has a better texture. My fiancé on the other hand, has told me he actually prefers the instant stuff, and that he could eat the whole package straight from the pot. I must say though, I like instant mashed potatoes, espeically when I don't have a whole lot of time to prepare a meal, but I still love the real deal a whole lot more. What's your preferance? And why?

I prefer the real deal you know made at home with peeling the potatoes and boiling and mashing them. But I really don't like instant they don't taste very well to me. Except lately I tried the Betty Crocker Instant Mashed Potatoes and they were very good!!!!

Yeah, the real thing is definitely better, but if I don't have a lot of time, I will make the instant stuff.

It depends on what I'm making. Usually I prefer the real deal though. Like instant pudding doesn't taste the same as the real stove top kind. And macaroni and cheese tastes better when you make it yourself and it doesn't come out of the package. Food is usually better when it is home cooked.

Hi, LadyAmaranth. I prefer the real deal. I love mashed potatoes that are made from scratch. My fil can make them like this and they are so good! They really are. They make instant mashed potatoes taste like scum! The homemade mashed potatoes are very natural and tasteful.

Definately the real thing, especially the way my gran makes it, she just dumps in a whole load of milk and butter, tastes so much nicer than the instant, which is kinda hit and miss I think :/ I just have to be in the mood for the instant one to eat it, sorta thing. Although they do take more time, the real thing just can't be beaten.
