Sad Songs

I have just discovered Antony and the Johnsons. The lead singer has such a rich voice and the lyrics of some of his songs are so amazing that they have been haunting me for seven days straight. I really like "Bird Girl", "Hope There's Someone", and "Crippled and Starfish". All of these songs make me feel intense longing, or sadness. What about you? What are some of the saddest songs you have come across. I'm not talking about those songs that you listen to because you are already sad. I want to know about the songs that you discovered on a day when you were feeling great and the lyrics or the music, or the voice of the singer made you really feel something powerful.

I love songs that make you "feel". A song that has this intensity for me, a song that moves me to tears no matter what my mood was to begin with, is "Goodbye My Lover," by James Blunt. Also I listened to "Hope There's Someone," by Antony and the Johnsons because I had never heard of them. I enjoyed it very much...thank you for sharing your moving songs with us!

Hey there RazzLDazz... I just got your name, lol. Thanks also for sharing the James Blunt song. I tend to be plugged in all of the time, so I have come across a ton of stuff... still I missed the one you listed. From listening to Antony and the Johnsons I also found Scott Mathews "For " (the next word is the nick name for Richard also often used when shortening the phrase private detective, and associated with male genitalia... the terms of agreement wont let me post it outright, lol), the last part of the song is really really great. You can check it out here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FXIgU6GJ2T8 His reminds me of David Bowie's work on the Labyrinth Soundtrack. Also if you haven't check out that second link that Paintswithwords posted. The sand art is amazing.
