Why are people addicted to texting?

Has texting become an addiction now a days.I always see people doing it all the time.On the tyra show I saw that this women would text nonstop and she even texted while doing something with her husband.Still why are people so addicted to texting?They even text while driving which can be very dangerous they can crash into someone they can probably end up killing someone if they don't pay attention while their driving.So what are your opinions on this.

Yeah, I do not really get the texting thing. Yet people do it all of the time. I guess it is something really to get addicted to. There are people who are obsessive compulsive in the sense that they have to always be doing something. Therefore texting is what fills that need for them, I guess. Doing it when they are driving is just insane, but then again, it does not surprise me. It is becoming a bit of a problem, but with more and more people doing it, its just going to spread. An unfortunate, yet addictive habit, texting could very well cause problems.

Ienjoy texting for a couple different reasons. If I don't want to get on the phone with a long-winded person, I will text. If I'm trying to get a project finished or watch TV, I will text and answer texts in my own time.
