My first salary was Rs300 per month and Rs.100 as expenses. At that time the $ rate was about Rs.10 to $1, so it must be about $30 plus $10 as expenses. This is a long time back. I was a chemical sales man at that time.

Yes, it was about 30 years back, but I do not agree to the fact that it was good money. There was nothing to spend on.No malls, no fast food joints and no multiplexes, that was the reason even Rs.300 to 400 was considered good money.

Thanks for responding to my discussion, you said at that time the $ rage was about Rs.10\-, I think it should be around some 30 or 40 years back, and this 300 Rs. is a good income at that time.

Hi! Well, my first employer has paid me about 100 Euros, but you must know that the standards in my country are very different than these in the other countries, We get small amounts, but have bigger standards, so the money are never enough and many people living with the minimum they need to spend the month and the stupid politics don't care about it and don't solve the problem!

Back in the mid 1960s I was working on a ranch, making $7.00 a day plus room-and board. That was some 16 to 18 hours a day. That was about 45 years ago.

Hello syed My first employer paid me just Rs.475/- but this was long back in the year 1981. At that time I had joined my organisation as a Steno-typist and now after 29 years of service and two promotions, I hv started earning around Rs.43000/-. Well I am satisfied as by the time of my retirement, my salary will be around Rs.50,000/- and with the quantum of work in a government organisation, I should say, the pay packet is too much.

Well, thanks for your comment on this discussion, along long years back, employer paid you Rs. 475/-, If we compared the standard of living 30 years back is very low, Rs. 475/- is a big amount at that time, if i am not wrong, people use to purchase some properties. But now the standard of living is too high, A person need earn atleast 20,000 to meet this standard of living, this money is just to lead a comfortable life, difficult to purchase properties.
