What should one look for when buying a printer? They all look the same to me. Can anyone help me and tell me what are the things I need to look for when I'm buying one?

What kind of things will you print? Do you also need to scan documents? Are you going to print in bulk, so how fast would you need your prints? If you think you will be using it frequently then look for a printer with a cheap ink.

I saw lots of adds on the net, for replacement ink for printers. They are way cheaper than the original ink, but are they safe to buy? Will they mess up the printer? And will the print quality be good?

If you are going to get yourself a printer, get this new HP Officejet 5610 All in One! It is really good and I do not regret buying that! Go for original ones or get it from a computer wholesaler!

HP Officejet 6300 - This is an All-In-One printer where it is a fax, scanner and photocopier on top of a quality inkjet printer.
fejzicjasmin, It all depends what you would like to print and what do you print often. Most of the inkjet printers are really quite good but I still prefer both HP and Epson. They are known for their print quality, product reliability and most of all excellent after sales service. The original ink cartridges may cost a little more but I feel that there's always a price for good quality and service. On the hindsight, I think you may like to have a Inkjet All In One printer like a HP Officejet 6300 All-in-One Printer which not only is an inkjet printer, it is also a fax, scanner and photo copier. You may want to check the specs below which is quite impressive. Incidentally, I am using this model and I am very happy with it so far. http://h10010.www1.hp.com/wwpc/sg/en/sm/WF06a/18972-18972-238444-3328086-3328086-1120059.html Whilst Epson is close with the Epson Stylus Office TX600FW and yes, the "W" here is wireless connect enabled. It did not came before I bought the HP and let me assure you that had it, I would have a lot of problem making my decision. Check the specs below. http://www.epson.com.sg/epson_singapore/printers_and_all_in_ones/inkjet/product.page?product_name=Epson_Stylus_Office_TX600FW I hope that this will be of help here and let me know if you need any additional info. Have a nice day.

When purchasing a printer you have to ask yourself whether you want to print in colour, black and white or both! Also, you need to check that the printer is compatible with the system you are running so you check the minimum system requirements of the printer. Laser printers sound expensive but that's not true! I definitely recommend a good website that sells items quite cheaply and that is www.ebuyer.com I purchased my black and white laser printer from them and I'm so pleased with it. Another very important thing to do before purchasing a printer is to check out user reviews. On ebuyer I only purchase items that have been given five stars and I have read what others have experienced on purchasing the product. Anyway, good luck. Andrew

The first is what do you mean by printer. Because at least there are two major printers that commonly used. They are inkjet printer and laser printer. If you want to use printer in your home, I take it as an inkjet printer you want to discuss. There are few characteristics to look at printer. The first is depth resolution. The higher the resolution, the better the result on your paper. However, resolution is not always the same if we compare at the paper (the result of printer) with the screen. Try to look printer with deeper resolution. The second is speed. Mostly, people will say Canon in terms of speed. In my experience, it follows what people said. But I find Epson more reliable in certain matters, because every printer is vulnerable, whatever the brand is. The last but not least. You need to know about ink if we want to buy printer. How much it will consume, and how much the price of the cartridge. May this help you.

Printers can be chosen based on our requirements such as color or black and white, Inkjet or Laserjet (quality basis) Price, number of copies( home use or office use) and finally reliability. There are number of standard brands available like HP, Canon and so on (as far as i have known)
