What is your favourite food from another part of the world from your own or another country that you really like. For me it is difficult because I like different cuisines fromall over the world. But if I had to pick one it would be Lamb Biriyani from Indian cuisine. It is delicious I have it every time I go to an Indian restaurant.

I, too, have never found a cuisine I didn't like! From Italy, it's almost every pasta, sausage and peppers, meatballs, anything Alfredo, mussels with hot sauce and biscotti, clams oregenata, and so on. From Germany, more sausages and wursts, spatzle, red cabbage and sauerkraut. From France, almost anything from celery remoulade, brioche, pot au feu, desire du roi of profiteroles, cassoulet, and on and on. From India, saag paneer, almost any curry, not too hot, chicken tikka masala, aloo gobi, anything lamb, vegetable korma. Vietnamese beef cooked in butter and almost any salad, plus the mint, basil, lime, fish sauce combinations in main dishes and salads. Pad tai and tom yum gai soup, and angel wings from Thailand. Oh, Greek avgolemono, lemon chicken, souvlaki, Greek Salad. Chinese orange chicken, crispy beef, hot and sour soup and lo mein, not to mention peking duck, and spring rolls. Mexican tortilla soup, soft tacos, enchiladas rancheras, chile relleno. Japanese sushi, especially creamy rock shrimp. Hawaii's or anybody's version of poke. Philippino lumpia. Persian rice with lentils, dates, pomegranates, currants. I need to stop here, but there's more and too many to mention, the impossiblity of chosing just on is evident. And, good old American macaroni and cheese, burgers and hot dogs. potato salad, and BBQ. Can't pick just one; can't eat just one....

No, I have not traveled to all of these countries, but I did live in New York city for several years and it is almost the same, due to the great variety of authentic foods available there! Now there are various regional and foreign foods available throughout the US. I did live in London, and travelled to France, Portugal, Belgium, Holland, Spain, Greece and Italy during my sojurn in Europe, as well as Morocco in Africa. Fine food is available everywhere on every continent and it's too hard to single out just one, so one of each works for me!

You have travelled quite a bit then, well alot more than me:) I went to Tunisia and they put of a traditional evening and they served a couscous dish with different vegetables and tomato - it was so delicious I have not been able to re-create it exactly the same way I imagine the food in Morocco is very simple and tasty.

Oooh I get your point there are so many delicious foods from all around the world and I like to try different things. I have not really had German food so I am going to look it up. Have you travelled to these places?

Something Italian or Mexican all the best urban

Both sound good to me - I like pasta particularly meatballs and spaghetti and lasagne and most pasta dishes. I also like fajitas.

I think for me it would be Chicken Souvlaki, or Spanakopita! Both Greek Dishes. I used to work in a Greedk Restauraunt, and would have A Chicken Pita or Chicken Souvlaki with a Spanakopita almost every day!

Anything with chicken sounds interesting - what is the dish made up of and I love pitta bread so it makes it even most interesting.

Chicken Souvlaki is just marinated chicken on a stick, I always ordered french fries as a side. Chicken Pita is just marinated chicken, lettuce and I believe onion, maybe tomato too, lol it's been awhile since I've had one, with tzaziki ofcourse. Spanakopita is spinach pie. All delicious.

It all sounds very lovely, I will definitely look out for it or see if it is avaiable the next time I go to a Greek restaurant. I am definietly a fan of spinach, and it goes so nicely with chicken.

this kubus is like indian roti called parata. but this one is cooked in clay woven i think. i dont know by which flour it is prepared, but different taste than parata.this kubus cost is too less than ordinary bread. for few cents(just 20fils for us) only u can get big kubus . u can see the recipe in the link http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index?qid=20080113230452AAmQzVK. u can see kubus photo in the link http://fantasycookblog.blogspot.com/2007/11/pattal-bhaaji-and-kuboos.html. photo in this is ordinary kubus with small size. and here in kuwait, falafel and shawerma are also famous and i like them more.

I tried to look kubus up but I could not find it - can you describe what type of bread it is? And what country are you in?

I have not tasted food from all countries but from that which I have tasted I like Chinese the best specially their soups - sweet corn and chicken, sweet and sour prawns, and their roles are simply out of this world!

It's tough to pick a favourite, I have cookbooks for a lot of different cuisines. Lately I crave a good tortilla soup because I was recently on vacation in Mexico. I've tried to make it at home but my broth just doesn't have the same rich, deep flavour. I like to choose one or two cookbooks and use them for a month, we might have Greek meatballs one night and a tagine the next.
3 Feb 10
I like the idea of choosing 2 cookbooks then using them for a month, we keep saying that we are going to choose a cuisine each time we eat out but I think I like the idea of choosing two cookbooks and using for a month. I have not got that many cookbooks so I think I will choose two countries each month and then look up recipes online.

Mine is a candy bar. When I lived in England as a teenager I fell in love with Double Decker candy bars. So when my mom visits her family or they come here, they always bring me back a dozen. My children and my husband also have fallen in love with these. My oldest one, even took one to school to share with his best friend, he loves them to. I guess I am going to have to break down and buy them online, waiting every couple of years for them is beginning to be to long.

Double Deckers I have not had one of those in years but I used to like them as a child but it has been a while since I have had one and because of that I have not really noticed then in the shops. Next time I go to a sweet shop I will have a look and see if they are still common here in England.

Lamb biryani ,chicken biryani tops the list of my favourites. I am fond of spicy chinese food like Bang Bang Ji or hot chicken salad ,beggars chicken ,chilli chicken cubes ,fried noodles, lemon chicken and spring rolls. When i visit Saudi Arabia i am crazy about Al-Baik Broasted Chicken and shrimp served with variety of sauces. The taste of its garlic sauce is divine.I wish its branch gets located in India too.
