Have you ever read the side of the box? It was meant to cure your acid reflux. So that means if you suffer from gerd, indigestion, burping, excess gas, bloating, heart burn.....it would be very wise of you to learn to drink baking soda and water a couple of times a day. It taste a little salty but your body needs this type of sodium. You should drink extra water as this is a dehydrating product with very high health benefits for a very low cost.

Hi Katkizzle. When I was a kid, there were commercials for Arm&Hammer baking soda suggesting you use a box in your fridge to get rid of odors. There was always one in ours and it surely did the trick. I must tell you, that I first read this post about a week ago. At that time, I was having some stomach troubles. After reading your post I went straight to the kitchen and mixed some baking soda with water and drank it down. Within 20 minutes my stomach was back to normal! It was amazing! I genuinely prefer natural remedies to popping some pill. It's so refreshing and almost always works! Baking soda has so many benefits to it and has been around for a hundred years or more. More people should follow your suggestion! Thanks for sharing. I never would have thought of it and it worked for me!

I am so glad it worked for you. I have been drinking it for years to kill cancer. I figure we all have it somewhere within and baking soda has oxygen in it and fungus is killed by oxygen.

Me too! I've added drinking a cup or 2 to my daily routine. I agree with you about us all having some cancer cells in our bodies. Things happen in life that "wake" them up. Hopefully now that I've added the baking soda to my daily intake, I'll nip that in the bud before it happens. I also use baking soda to brush my teeth. I've never understood the whole tooth paste industry and how using something that has flouride in it can possibly be a good thing! Before there was tooth paste, there was baking soda and that's what people used. I'm 45 and I still don't have a single cavity! It also helps in gum protection and can even aid in preventing gums from receding. A truly remarkable invention!

My grandfather used to quickly mix in a bit of vinegar to make it fizz before he drank it. I've tried it, it's not bad.

Hi. katkizzle. I am glad that you brought this to our attention Thank you.. I have seen this usage on the side of the box. Many people tend to forget that they can take advantage of the baking soda purpose. I will keep this in mind, if I start to have problems with my stomach.

Apart from baking, the only thing I've used baking soda for is to help clean the carpet - when I moved in the previous owners had had dogs and they'd obviously had a few accidents on the staircase. Putting down baking soda for a few hours and then vacuuming it up really helped fix the problem.

Check out this article: http://gomestic.com/do-it-yourself/ten-household-uses-for-baking-soda/ You can do lots of things with baking soda: treat acid reflex, put out fires, deoderize smelly sneakers - and it's cheap (less than $1 for a pound, whereas over-the-counter antacid tablets cost $5-$10 and you can't use the leftover antacid tablets for anything else).
