why football shape is spherical?

is there any reason why football has a shape of sphere.i think to increase its spee in hitting thats y what ur opinion?

balls roll. other shapes don't, or at least not so well. this is the reason why in american 'football' they just pick the 'ball' up - it has a non-spherical shape.

In world football, I believe it is spherical to make it easy to move around. I do not think it would be a good logistics move if it had vertices like a triangle or square. It would take for ever to move down field or down the pitch. American and Rugby footballs are somewhat round too for the same reason.
