I want to work part time

The truth is that I'm currently a working scholar. Basically in exchange for tuition fees I work at the office. But lately I've been wanting to earn money by going to work. I'm 23 years old and back in first year college. I want to make friends but most of them are younger than me. Then I have a sick sister and the monthly stipend we get from our share of the boarding house just isn't enough. I've been thinking of working part time to earn at least a little but my cousin is against it saying I'd just get too tired. I fear what she said might be true but this issue has been nagging at me for a long time. I really need to make extra cash so should I go for it or build myself up first?
