It was so bad it was good

So last night I sat down to watch a movie called "Streets of Fire" a movie which was release back in 1984 and stars the likes of Diane Lane, Rick Moranis and Willem Dafoe. It's supposed to be a sort of retro futuristic action crossover. Except everything about it was bad from the action, the acting, the dialogue and various music scenes which reminded me of a Meatloaf concert. Except it was so bad it became good for all the wrong reasons, it made me laugh at all the cheesy action and the corny dialogue is hysterical, so much so that I found it really entertaining. So have you ever watched a movie which is so bad that you ended up enjoying it for all the wrong reasons? For those who have never heard of "Streets of Fire" here is a link to the trailer on youtube: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ld5upa1wnsE

As soon as you mentioned the name Willem Dafoe I knew the film in question would be rubbish lol. He can't act for toffee and there was a scene he did with Madonna many years ago involving wax from candles on bare bodies, it was hilarious...but it wasn't supposed to be lol. It was supposed to be a love scene. Can't remember for the life of me which film it was.

Body of Evidence - one of the worst movies to come out of the 90s with the notorious candle scene as well as a certain one which features on the bonnet of a parked car. But you are right, most of Dafoe's movies have bordered on the terrible. You have to go back to the 80s to "Mississippi Burning" and "Platoon" for what I would say was a good Dafoe movie.

"Body of Evidence!" That's the one! Well remembered. I would say that "Mississippi Burning" is one of my favourite films, I love it. I do like Gene Hackmann, very under-rated actor in my opinion. He must be getting on a bit now. Any idea what he's up to?

It's quite funny because when I think of Hackman I immediately think of him as Lex Luther in the "Superman" movies and also his brilliant performance in "Hoosiers". I think he is in his late seventies, for some reason I think 78 or 79 and he hasn't done a movie since 2004. Not sure why and there are no rumours of anything in the pipeline either.

Oh, no, never. I don't watch bad action movies. I am laughing about old Flip and Flap, and this is the only movie I am laughing, even they don't talk.

Sometimes, I find myself in the mood for a movie that I don't have to take too seriously...and 'Streets of Fire' fits the bill. I liked it back then and I wouldn't mind seeing it again. Another movie that I thought was entertaining and delightful but lacked any relevance, was 'Howard the Duck'...Oh, and let's not forget 'Big Trouble In Little China'...8o)
