it quite known in the world nowadays that if some one said "Peace be with you." He will be labeled as a Muslim, but it is very interesting to know that from ancient times, the prophets of God including Moses, Joseph, David, Jesus, the angels of God and many others including God himself have made it their custom to greet the believers with the words "Peace be with you." this can be seen in some verses of the Bible such as: Genesis 43:23 And after eight days again his disciples were within, and Thomas with them: then came Jesus, the doors being shut, and stood in the midst, and said, Peace be unto you. Judges 6:23 And the LORD said unto him, Peace be unto thee; fear not: thou shalt not die. 1 Samuel 25:6 And thus shall ye say to him that liveth in prosperity, Peace be both to thee, and peace be to thine house, and peace be unto all that thou hast. Numbers 6:26 The LORD lift up his countenance upon thee, and give thee peace. 1 Samuel 1:17 Then Eli answered and said, Go in peace: and the God of Israel grant thee thy petition that thou hast asked of him. Luke 24:36 And as they thus spake, Jesus himself stood in the midst of them, and saith unto them, Peace be unto you. John 20:19 Then the same day at evening, being the first day of the week, when the doors were shut where the disciples were assembled for fear of the Jews, came Jesus and stood in the midst, and saith unto them, Peace be unto you. John 20:26 And after eight days again his disciples were within, and Thomas with them: then came Jesus, the doors being shut, and stood in the midst, and said, Peace be unto you. and especially Luke 10:5 And into whatsoever house ye enter, first say, Peace be to this house. Can anyone guess what Muhammad (pbuh) taught his followers to say when greeting each other or departing from each other? You guessed it! "Assalam alaikum" or "Peace be unto you." Have you ever met a Christian who greets other Christians with the words of Jesus (pbuh): "Peace be unto you"? in the Holy Quran it is the same sentence used by God to greet. [037:079] Peace be unto Noah among the peoples! [037:109] 'Peace upon Abraham; [037:120] Peace be unto Moses and Aaron! [037:130] Peace be unto Elias! [037:181] And Peace on the apostles! [024:027] O ye who believe! Enter not houses other than your own without first announcing your presence and invoking peace upon the folk thereof. That is better for you, that ye may be heedful. also in the Holy Quran it Clearly mentioned that "Peace be unto you" will be the salutation to those who will enter the paradise. [039:073] And those who keep their duty to their Lord are driven unto the Garden in troops till, when they reach it, and the gates thereof are opened, and the warders thereof say unto them: Peace be unto you! Ye are good, so enter ye (the Garden of delight), to dwell therein; [014:023] And those who believed and did good works are made to enter Gardens underneath which rivers flow, therein abiding by permission of their Lord, their greeting therein: Peace! [013:024] "Peace unto you for that ye persevered in patience! Now how excellent is the final home!" and the prophet Muhammad "peace be upon him" was asked: "What (sort of) deeds in or (what qualities of) Islam are good?" He replied, "To feed (the poor) and greet those whom you know and those whom you don’t know. ( saying peace be unto you" Are you a Christ-like ? Do you greet others saying "Peace be unto you" ? I always greet Others saying "Peace be unto you" What about you ? Peace be unto you!

At some point of your post, I have to agree. The sentence "Peace be upon you" is not exclusive to Muslims. The reason is that some part of Moses and Jesus' teaching were actually in line with what Islam teaches. In fact, I can say, though probably people won't really agree that Islam is the final update of the religions carried by the prophets. There was no record anywhere in Quran that the religions revealed to Moses and Jesus have names. Every time a prophet comes with a new teaching, the old teachings will be abolished. However, there are some that retains probably since God wants it to be that way for that particular time. So that's why some of your Books have the expression "Peace be upon you". the greeting is just a translation from the Arabic greeting "Assalamualaikum". The word "As-Salam", literally means "peace". However, that word is also one of the names of the Almighty, One God. Therefore, only those who believe in the Almighty, One God is given the privilege to say it. Therefore, when a non-Muslim greets a Muslim "Assalamualaikum", the Muslim will only have to reply "Waalaikum" which means in a simppler way, "You too".

I would like to point out that Catholics also say peace be unto you, or peace be with you every time they go to mass. There is a part of mass where the priest asks the congregation to bless one another with the words: peace be with you, or peace be unto you. So Muslims are not the only religious group that say this.
