Did anyone watch American Idol last night? It was the first part of Hollywood week- the first episode with Ellen Degeneres as the new judge. I thought she did pretty nicely. I don't think the show will ever be the same with out Paula, but I do think Ellen is a nice female, comedic addition...I'm really not a fan of Kara. And I hear Simon is leaving after this season, too. Its hard to imagine what the show will be like with out two of the original judges. Tonight is the second part of Hollywood week, I think. I'm excited to see which contestants will make it through.

no, the show isn't the same without Paula. it can go on however. i think so far Ellen is doing a good job and she makes us laugh. i know Kara knows her business but me too am not much of a fan of hers. i mean 4 judges i am ready to go to sleep. it will be interesting to see who will replace simon. i think it may make or break the show we shall see. i am a fan no matter what. Yeah I saw it today here on our local station. I love Ellen it was very funny and interesting although I really miss Paula. The biggest change would be Simon leaving he has the biggest impact and he is like the Mt. Everest for the contestants. He represents the audience that are not easily pleased. Ellen although she doesn't have that much of a musical background but she can really contribute on how to appeal to the crowd. I'm really excited to see how this season would go.

I saw the show and loved seeing Ellen there. She is just so funny. One of the contestants sang one of Paula's songs (he made it his own) it was so good. I can't wait to see next week what groups will be leaving and who is staying. I have to say though this year so far no one has given me goosebumps like previous years in auditions and Hollywood week.

I like Ellen, though IDOL will never be the same without Paula Abdul., i know Ellen would add flavour to the show. Fun in particular, right? Let's not judge her yet, ok? Besides, she is now the judge so don't judge the judge!

I'm not really missing Paula, she was fun while she was on the show--but I'm okay without her too. Plus I just love Ellen, I think she's great and funny. I loved her comment about the fine line between scary and sexy :P lol Now, I don't see the show being the same without Simon! I love Simon and so far the choices of people set to replace him are NOT good! If they had to go with someone I wish it would be the other British fellow from Britain's Got Talent...I'd still miss Simon with that guy in his place, but I would like him more than the other options!

it was indeed fun to watch a new judge at the idol and it was more fun for it was ellen who was the new judge. she is opinionated and funny to see her working with eye glasses. har har har. i guess this was the first time i saw her reading something using eye glasses. never thought that she needed one. i am not a fan of kara too but it is better for me to se a female judge who really knows about singing and composing and thats kara. is ellen be staying for good or just for this season?

I saw it and loved it! That wasn't surprising though, I'm an Ellen fan and am so excited and happy to have the chance to watch her not be afraid to be herself on such a good show. She is an Idol for female comedians everywhere!!

I think Ellen is a fine replacement for Paula. Kara was unneccessary. I just don't think the show will be the same without Simon. He really did make the show.

Hi Olisaur, Oh yes, I watched AI last night. Despite apprehensions on Ellen's joining the panel of judges of AI, it seems she is going to do well in the that show. I like her comments ("that was dull", "you scare me" etc.). At one point Simon asked Ellen "you like it?", Ellen retorted "I love it" with much sarcasm as Simon would have. That was funny. After her first day, I think I don't wanna miss an episode of AI. Simon will be missed, definitely. Kara is okay with me, I like her "I'm sorry, sweetie" lines.

I like the fact that Ellen is on American Idol. I didn't care for Paula at all, acted way to stupid towards the last. I feel that Ellen can be just as critical as the other judges, she just adds more flair. Nice to see some humor on the show. I think the show will suffer once Simon leaves. Love him or hate him, he's usually right and to the point. Will be fun to see how the rest of the season goes.
