I got to see Elvis in concert in Birmingham, Alabama one time and that was in 1976, the year before he died. It was awesome! He looked so good that night, too! The funny thing about it was that I didn't know for sure if I was going to get to go or not so I didn't count on it. I don't remember what the reason was. However, my sister, who was a big fan of his as well and had seen him eight times, gave me a ticket for Christmas that year! This had to be Christmas 1975. You should have seen my surprize when I opened that gift on Christmas Morning and found out I was going sure enough!! Because of the box it was wrapped in, I thought it was a piece of jewelry at first, lol! I am so glad I went to this concert, too, because I didn't know it was going to be the first as well as the last time I would get to see him. I remember he said that night that he hoped to be back the next year. However, he died the next year. I saw just about all of his movies and I had a lot of his records. I guess my favorite Elvis movie was "Flaming Star" because I've always liked westerns and anything concerning Indians. As I'm sure you know, he plays a half breed Indian in this move. There was another movie that he made that I liked where he plays a fullblooded Indian but I can't remember the name of it. Can anybody remember the name of it? I guess of all the songs he did, my favorite is "Are You Lonesome Tonight". It's just a pretty song. Did you ever get a chance to see Elvis in concert? Tell us about your experiences. What is your favorite Elvis movie? What is your favorite song of all the songs he recorded? I had a dog named "Elvis" one time when I was a child. I also had a teddy bear I named "Elvis". If you remember, he had a song caled "(Let Me Be Your) Teddy Bear". As you can see, I took that literally, LOL! I slept with that teddy bear a lot, too! Kathy.

Now that you mention it, the movie was "Charo". Thank you!. I saw the movie "Love Me Tender" but no girls were screaming at our theatre. I think I remember girls screaming in the movie, if that's what you mean. They were just enjoying his performance so much! I was just 4 years old at the time. I have two sisters and the one who is next to me in age used to take me to see all of his movies at the old Jasper Theatre. I've seen this movie several times on television since then. I thought he was a good actor, myself. There were some people who didn't think so, though. There was a time when I thought I didn't like Elvis. You might think this is silly but the reason why is because I had a friend who didn't like him. I thought if I wanted to be her friend, I shouldn't like him as well, lol. I'm different about things like this now. In other words, just because she didn't like him, that didn't mean we couldn't be friends. We both liked horses, though. That was one thing we had in common. Kathy.

I do think he could have been a very good actor if the Col. would have let him get in to serious parts instead of al the girls running after him!

I never got to see Elvis in concert, I was born in 1971 but I remember my mom being a big fan of his and playing his songs and talking about him to her friends when I was younger. It wasnt until I was a teenager and they would play his movies on the weekends that I had seen any of his work, I was never really a big fan but then it wasnt my time era although I remember thinking how good looking he was in his movies... My mom got really big into reading all the books that came out a few years ago by Pirscilla and she would watch movies that they made--basically the documentaries of his life. I am not sure what of his songs where my favorite but I can say that I did like alot of them. I think it would be fun to rent a bunch of his movies and spend a day just watching them back to back.... would be a great way to spend a rainy day!!! Happy Mylotting!!

I know it has been a while since I have spent much time on Mylot...between the kids, life, the house, and my sons school activities I havent had much time to fit in all my sites so alot of them got pushed back...but I am trying to get at least a half hour here everyday to get back into the swing of it and do some catching up. It will start making more discussions next week and getting more time on here since my son will be off of school for a week for winter break...so I will be running around alot less.... Happy mylotting.

Hi bookreadermom08! It's been a long time since I've seen you one here! How are you doing? I know you stay busy with those kids, though. Yes, watching Elvis movies all day would be a good way to spend a rainy day, wouldn't it? I have seen so many of his movies I don't know how many times. I told Lakota12 that I have two sisters and the one next to me in age used to take me to the old Jasper theatre to see his movies all the time. That wasn't any problem with her because she liked him as much as I did, lol. You were born the year I graduated high school. I'm giving away my age, aren't I, lol? Actually, I don't mind telling my age. I'm going to be 58 in a couple of weeks and I think it's better than the alternative. Kathy.

Lakota12 said it was "Charo". I'm just glad I got to go to that concert. Like I said, I didn't know at the time that it was going to be the first time as well as the last. We just never know what's going to happen in the future. If I think about it, I always try to say "Lord willing". Kathy.

I have been a fan of Elvis since I was a young teenager. I never had a chance to see Elvis in concert. You are so lucky that you had that wonderful experience. My favorite movie of his was "Love Me Tender". It too is a western which is probably my favorite type of movie also. I think the movie you are talking about is "Stay Away Joe where he plays a Navajo Indian. I have to check it out because I don't remember seeing that movie. As for my favorite song its a toss up between "Love Me Tender" and "Suspicions Minds."

I believe you're right. The movie was "Stay Away, Joe". One mylotter said it was "Charo" and I thought she was right. I remember he rode a bull in that movie! It wasn't a bramha (I don't remember how this is spelled) bull, though, like you see in the rodeos. Thank you for responding. Kathy.
