i am not really a native speaker so I dont really know the limitations of their usage. I personally think though that they ccan sometimes be interchangeable. but I feel like mentoring is much deeper than merely coaching. mentoring for me involves passing on knowledge, trying to involve another person's being through own experiences and proven and effective methods. It also seems that mentoring involves deep realationship with the person and his mentor and also involves deep philosophies in life. The word "coaching" for me seems a bit more loose and that it doesnt really require any personal relationships or any deep philosophies. I think coaching is more of teaching procedures and explaining rules. Well, that's just my personal understanding of the words..
