why indian hockey team is never treated in par with indian cricket team?

Although hockey is India's national game the hockey players never get any recognition or respect as their cricketing counterparts.When you compare their performances the hockey team has won 8 gold medals till date in olympics.but the cricket team has won only 2 major world titles one being world cup and other being T20 world cup.can anybody say what is the problem with the people in preferential treatment to one team while completely neglecting another and if you could please suggest a solution to solve this inequality.

yeah friend you had asked a very good questions i think that the people enjoy much to watch cricket rather watching hockey or our sports federation doesn't give much attention on the part of hockey. In order to lift our national games the government has to take effective step have to contribute more and more money on this....
