A new version of "We Are the World"... now dedicated for Haitians... Do you like the new version sung by various singers? or, Do you still like Michael Jackson's original one?

hi skbrence! I still prefer the original version of the song although this one is really cool. I like Pink and Celine's voice. It is for a cause and I think it is just perfect. and they still include MJ on the song which I think is totally great.

I didn't even know that there was a new version of "We Are the World". So I went to Youtube and searched for it. After listening to it I'd have to say that it was okay. There were some aspects that I didn't like. For example there was that whole robotic thing going on, sounded really out of place. And we could have done without the rapping in there. I still love the original version more but this one was a nice attempt. It could have turned out worst.

Hi there saizo6... I also didn't really know that something like that was done and released... I have just heard it when the TV talked about it after several days... I really don't like the rapping part... It somehow ruined the melody, rhythm and the song itself... Well, on other ways, I still like it but, I also like more the original one... xD By the way, thanks for your response and thanks also for dropping by.

I think both versions are cool.. they have their own specialty. I think the latter version is cool in a sense that the tune is slightly different.. like more modern and having a touch of RnB and soul. There's also some rap involved and then the artistes are diverse with a mixture of the young and old. Fabulous.. but the older version is also super cool..

I still adore the original and love it with all my heart, but this one has an interesting flair to it. I must say I absolutely despise the rap part, but the effects like the electronic voices and give the piece a new lease on its relevance and opens up the door for a new generation (my generation) to find great music at its greatest.

I recently heard the new version of We Are the World and I did not like it at all. I think that the original version was something special, but this one is really ordinary. The singers singing it don't have such beautiful voices and they haven't been famous for very long, at least not for their singing voice. I think songs like this should be recorded by really talented musicians and not by wannabes. I prefer the original song over any remake.

The original is better.. but that's a given. And is to be expected. Some songs...the original just cannot be touched. I can appreciate the effort that was made but the new version just is no where comparable to the original. I honestly think they should have tried to make another song and leave the original untouched.

Hi there MrsWalz... The original version would really be a good one... And I agree on you when you have said that the original version should be left untouched... Anyways, making a new song would be somehow a hard job since We Are the World lyrics are really related on what happened on Haiti... By the way, thanks for your response and thanks also for dropping by.

Honestly, it disgusts me to see how this works. Whenever a crisis emerge, stars who could easily put together their money to rebuild and help haiti come together to sing a song... I have always loved the original song and i do like the new one, I just hate to see how unfair the world is.

IMO artistically the new version sucks and doesn't comes close to the original version. But i don't mind people exploiting micheal's legacy because it is raising awareness and funds for haiti relief .
