I don't root for anyone but the greatest country in the world, the U.S. The only exception to that rule is with hockey. If the U.S. is out of contention, I'll root for Canada because its the birthplace for the hardest sport to play. It's funny to me that most people root against the U.S. I guess when you're the top dog in just about everything, people take their shots.

Are you a fellow hockey fan? It is the greatest sport on the planet. I root for U.S. but I also root for the host country. I love it for their athletes to win while they are at home. And there are sporst where the americans aren't in contention. when that happens I root for a good showing for Canada or Mexico or the host country. This year because my beloved Ovie is playing hockey for Russia , I'll be rooting for them too.

I feel the same way that you do. I root for the US (I'm American), Canada and Mexico foremost. But then, I tend to root for anyone that I think deserves to win, even if I don't feel any particular connection to their country. It makes me angry to hear of people who don't like atheletes from certain countries because they have a dislike for that country. I think people are too quick to judge others by their country's politics. Just my opinion!

The Olympics aren't about grudges. It is about coming together and competing in sport Instead of fighting a war! I have always felt this way . Back in the day when There was the U.S.S.R, I would hope they come and compete.I never let politics dictate whom I rioted for. In my fave figure skating I wold root for both the U.S. and the Canadians and The Russians. I just wanted a good competition.

As a Canadian, let me say THANK YOU for that. If Canada and the USA is playing something, or Canada and Mexico, I'll root for Canada, but if Canada is not in a particular game, I'll root for my neighbours. I also root for countries where i have friends, such as Serbia, and Croatia, and countries where my husband and I have family (Denmark and Russia).

I always root for both the U.S. and Canada. We are cousins and if us Yanks can't win I hope you can! I am rooting for England too. My best friend is English. My other friend is Swedish. Some way or another I'm rooting for just about everybody.

well i will root for our country the good ole United States of America first, but i like to see all of the countries get something i hate to see them get shutout and there is enough different events that each country seem to be better at then the others. I'd like to see our team do good in the hockey which is my favorite event to watch, but with such a young team i doubt we will win even a medal this tournament so i would expect Canada to win it. they definitely have the best group of nhl talent playing in the tournament, but that is why they play the games right? i just want to see great games and a great tournament, which I'm sure it will be. i hope all the countries do well and that our country does the best.

You already know that for hockey I am going with Canada with an eye on the Mule and Lidstrom in Sweden. Beyond that I find that I end up rooting for individuals rather than countries. Someones back story is interesting or they just blow me away with their abilities and suck me in.
