my google toolbar is not working!!! gpt site the culprit?

I'm not going to gpt sites anymore (at least for now). I just signed out of one my accounts when I tried to search google and it warned me that someone or my computer is sending automated search requests. What's up with that? GPT sites are loaded with spyware? OR am I panicking?
