Marriage is sacred among all Filipino because majority of the Filipinos are Catholics and they believe that two people are united as one in the presence of GOD in the form of marriage. There's a provision in the Congress citing that marriage contract should have an expiration after 10 years to give an option for those married men or women who cannot stay any longer with their spouse because of brutality and ruthlessness of their husband and many other reasons. Having an expiration for the marriage contract is just an option for married people since there's no law which authorized divorce in the Philippines.

This is a pending bill in the congress, my friend. I don't know who is the author of that bill. But I don't agree on that bill because it affects the real culture of the Filipinos and this is against the rule of God... The law says that if your marriage is not successful in 10 years then if you can't renew it. Meaning the marriage is automatically void. But if successful you need to renew it. But another payment...It's like a drivers license...lol

The expiration of the marriage contract is still a proposal, isn't it? Some people say that married couples should renew their contract every 10 years just to make sure that they are still together by then. Oh well, bills are complicated.

Hi auspon! I think the one in the news that mentioned of marriage having an expiration of 10 years is a proposed bill. It will really depend on our lawmakers if they will push through with the approval of such bill. For me, i definitely disagree with putiing an expiration date on marriage. It will not bring good to the family especially to the children.
