What are pleasurable things to do before sleeping?

pleasurable sleep, happy sleeping, sweet slumber - Sleeping could be pleasurable when you do a lot of things to help you sleep rather than aggravate your sleeping pattern.

You could be sleeping right now but you could not do anything to keep your eyelids close and you're so so preoccupied with thinking of many things in your mind. Even though you like to forget it or just throw it away the situation still stuck in your mind which makes you worry a lot. It may be something related to your job, children, finances or sort of a personal and professional problem. Then, you really feel tired but the mind won't let you rest. So what you gonna do next, in order to have a pleasurable sleep despite of those annoying thoughts which you like to take away in your mind and yet they still keep disturbing you. In my case, i avoid drinking coffee, doing exercises, and drinking a lot of water makes me feel bloated so resulting for me unable to sleep thus I avoid it too. I think the things which are very pleasurable things to do is to take a bath a few hours before sleep, read a novel, eat sweet food or just massaging my forehead or do any beauty ritual then have to think of good things so my mind would be away thinking things which are are a real sources of worries. like for examples i make sure when i come home all things i do from the outside should no longer accompany with me. Before going to sleep I need to make sure my bed is clean, smelling fresh to makes me sleep well. How about you, what pleasurable things you could think of doing before going to bed at night? What kind of activities you do to keep you sleeping moment pleasurable? Do you have ideas, kindly shares. thanks. 2-17-10

hello again, all the things that you have said are sure good thing to have good sleep. i think i am just one lucky girl not to have any problem when it comes to sleeping! haha only because i just go to bed when i am already really sleepy! and so whenever i rest my back on the bed, i will just need few minutes after my prayer and i will fall asleep right away! most of the time, i am spending my nights doing my things online...facebook haha & of course mylot... but when i am visited by some sleepless nights, what i just do is yes do a half bath, drink warm milk... pray (which i always do every night before sleeping) and just free my mind from worries... or should i include i count sheeps as well? haha just kidding! i am not into listening to music at night coz it don't makes me feel sleepy at all...hehe

hi ckyera, Well, i think you are a late sleeper as well as I see you sometimes online till 3 am in the wee hours of the morning and maybe you sleep few in the morning then online again since you also take online activities as part time earning sources. In my cases even i like to i get tired typing and my eyes get tired just looking at the monitor and reading so I am absent sometimes and not doing online. Especially when i feel sick or tired i just read and not type here in mylot since i get bored and only when i am back at myself there i would become active again posting and commenting at the same times. Your very lucky since you could sleep right away while in my case even if I don;t drink coffee during the night i could not sleep unless my eyes get tired it is then i could sleep. most of the ties i just watch marathon movies or surfing the net till i get tired it is then i take it as a signal for me to sleep. So definitely i have no schedules time for sleeping pattern and it changes as i grow old unlike when i was young before i sleep earlier since i have classes in the next morning. I think i only manage to get 4 or 5 sleep per day and i do rarely napping too that is why my mother too is so mad since i stay up late most of the time. Nowdays i minimize it for health reason too since it makes me thin to stay late at night most of the times they are just so worried about me so their are times i am not around here and just relaxing for awhile.

well i just stay up that late whenever i am talking to some friends on ym... and together with that i am doing farming but not necessarily mylot, coz i can't really concentrate to write whenever i am talking to someone... i was able to get enough sleep even if i sleep so late coz i also wake up late! haha my husband just let me do that since we don't have a baby to take care of... and in the morning, its my husband who's using the computer & he can have his breakfast even if i am still sleeping coz everything is already prepared at night (well actually we just have bread & coffe in the morning) except for some days like thursday & sunday or when he have other appointment that i have to make sure that he eat before leaving the house...

Nothing particular to do before sleeping.The last two nights,I couldnt sleep well because there was,like you mention,something stuck in my mind,finances and emotions.lol Then I realize if I think something pleasant,I can go to sleep easilier.Thats true.But be careful not to get too excited.The key is to relax.I recomment reading before sleep.Personally,I think reading is the most pleasurable thing before sleeping.I usually read at least 10 mins before sleep.Thats a good habit.

hi sweetyethot, Yeah, those are the things which troubles most especially if one have to worry about the future something which not yet happen and yet it bring a lot of stress since you are the one involves including your loved ones and it also mix of emotion like happiness and failure. like having regret failing to do some of your interest which you like the most and yet at present it seem far away or too late so it often result to confusion or misery. But with the help of sleeping method and other relaxing strategy to keep the mind at rest their is a need to learn to be calm and fight troubles whatever the level of stress one have to meet.

hi elshaddai, Yeah, they are very effective i do it too when i am in a lot of worries or in case i have a trouble mind, Reading bible is soothing and very relaxing while reflecting on those precious words written.

I love to meditate before sleeping. It helps me to relax my entire body and let me sleep soundly throughout the night. Another thing I would do before sleeping is some light readings (magazine or pictured articles) with a glass of milk. cheers.

hi theonlyone, yeah, meditation is very effective sleeping remedy it is natural and no need to take artificial medicines which could be addicted if one always rely on it the natural remedy is very safe method which one no need to worry for it have no counter effects since they are natural which bring the best for everyone to learn and this the cost is cheap since it is a learning process which need a lot of discipline and cooperation both from mind and body.

I tend to read just before going to bed because I feel it puts me in a very relaxed and peaceful mindset For some reason, if I play a videogame or watch a particularly action-packed film, I find it difficult to go to sleep because my brain is very stimulated

hi mr. kennedy, I do it too and reading long novels or some travel magazines could takes one mind to imagine traveling in places you have not been before and you could take all those beautiful scenes with you when you get tired reading into the places where one wish to go for such as in vacation in a white sanded blue beaches which is very calming and of natural tripping, hiking or just a plain leisure in the woods or in the parks or just becoming a curious tourist in the process while sleeping.

I always read one of my books for awhile and pray before I go to sleep. That seems to help me to sleep better then anything else. Sometimes I take a pill to help me sleep if I can't sleep well. Most of the time though just reading helps me to relax to go to sleep.

hi shaun, Reading book is the best and natural way to get a good sleep when the eyes and mind becomes tired after reading it is then the natural way to sleep ensues natural way to deal with insomnia and other causes. I myself does not like taking sleeping pills because it could result to addiction and one becomes dependent on it it is alike a hard habit which hard to break down.

I do take a shower so that I will feel fresh when I am sleeping in bed. I don't read novels as it will only keeps me awake. I watch news I let my eyes be tired. As much as possible I don't think much. I let my mind to do not occupied something to think about. I listen to mellow songs too, I want the sounds of violins and piano when I am about to sleep. When I feel I am about to give in to my sleep I turn off my MP4 to sleep. I have experienced having difficulty sleeping during Sunday night. I am like that always even I do all taking a shower, not thinking anything or listening to songs, I still can't sleep during that time.

hi greychunny, Yeah, that is also one of the recommended effective sleeping aid which i also read and heard from new and my sister do it everyday taking a hot bath since it is relaxing to the tense muscles and it relieve stress both in the body and in the mind. All those things you mention are natural remedy and not mix with artificial medicines which have a counter effect to the mind which should not be addictive.

Ooh I m having the same situation as you. But what I learn is that in the morning I should do some work like day job and when I went back home, I should be able to get a good night sleep. Day job work will prevents you from feeling insecurity for financial blues too and other things that worrying you you should pray to God!

hi wongchoiyee, Yeah, it is a good things that work should be left on the workplace and things which bother you during work should only be left on that place and it is also good not to bring work in the house so that mind is free from a lot of disturbance and enjoy home as a place for rest. Also just like you mention having a calm life could be best obtain when one live a prayerful life which is a good help to feel relax taking stress away. thanks.

Hey neelian! I also like my bed to be clean and smelling nice too! I usually will watch tv for awhile before I go to sleep! My bf likes to watch the news when he gets home and he goes to sleep way before I do because he has to get up and go to work! I am not working right now so I usually stay up pretty late and sometimes will watch tv late or read or sometimes if I can't sleep will come back here to mylot for awhile! It takes alot for me to relax because I have trouble falling asleep so I do different things!

Well I like to have fresh sheets and covers too. I like a lot of pillows. I like to take a long hot bath before I prepare to go to sleep, then turn on the television and turn the lights down low and off to sleep I go. Oh I like to put a nice smelling lotion too before bed time.

hi jane, Yeah, having clean environment and smelling fresh sleeping items are necessary to aid in good sleeping since they are more comfortable which aid in good sleeping unlike if the sheets is soiled or smelly no matter one try to sleep it would nor comes as easy especially those with sensitive smell they would likely distract by their smell.

I also experienced difficulty sleeping though I am sleepy. It is because of many problems that stocked in my head and I am thinking about it every now and then so my mind keeps awake and having trouble sleeping. During these times I avoid to drink caffeinated beverages because it can worsen the situation. Bu the most pleasurable thing that I do to get sleep is by praying to god and leave everything to him because I know that he is just waiting for me to ask for help and everything would be fine. I experienced it many times so I felt better each time I did those.

hi junmae, Yeah, i couldn't disagree more praying is the best weapon against all evils and it includes bad thoughts, it is calming and the way to communicate with god which is also in comparison with the meditation they are almost similar since they evokes calmness to develop within the inner peace within self. And for drinking coffee in the morning it is appropriate but before bedtime should be avoided since it triggers alertness of mind. thanks

Before I go to bed, I have a bathroom beauty "ritual" as well. ^-^ When I get in bed, I like to straighten out the blankets after I'm already in it. Then I like to turn off my lights and listen to music or the radio while I wait for myself to get sleepy, lol.

Yeah, that is really necessary no matter one becomes tired one need to keep the beauty ritual a daily habit since forgetting have an effect to the face as one look old when the skin is not being pamper so it is really necessary at all to keep and looking young beyond your real age. Those things you mention are very relaxing and it contributes to successful sleeping.

I read the Bible or any spiritual books. Also, I busy myself with knick knack things. Saying the rosary is good before you sleep. One thing good, is to breath in and out saying and thinking that God loves me. And throwing everything to God. Your will be done, Lord. This help me sleep. You can try it.

hi irene, Yeah, they are very true and u do it too when i am in trouble or worrying for something which i have to do the next day and when my mind keep wondering that even if i am on my bed it takes me longer to sleep, except when i am tired at anytime i would take a nap or sleep for a longer period which sometimes becomes so wrong since i forgot sometimes t eat on time. Now I avoid it so that my health would not get affected.

If I am tired at night but not sleepy, I like to read. It relaxes me enough to fall asleep. I have trouble sleeping, more precisely staying asleep, because of pain. I keep some lavender blossoms beside my bed and above my head. They help me to sleep longer. If I can't get to sleep, I'll drink some non-caffeinated, hot tea. That, combined with a good book, always helps me to get to sleep.

hi mentalward, That also happen to me my body is tired but my mind is so active than even i go to bed to sleep i could not do so, and mind just wander thinking other things which even I force myself to sleep it never comes naturally and have to stay in bed for a longer hours before my actual sleeping comes that i rather surf the net or waatch television series until my eyes get tired. And keeping of things which could be a sources of relaxation is also beneficial like what you do because it have an effects on your moods keeping you feel serene and relax the tired body and mind at the same time therapeutic way of healing tensed muscles. drinking too for me of warm milk helps me to sleep and avoidance of caffeine is a must.

I read my bible before going to sleep to help me sleep well. I have also been listening to soft music from my cd player at night to help me sleep. However, my cd player has gotten to where it won't work here lately. I think drinking chamomile tea is another way to relax before going to bed. I practice singing and playing the guitar before going to bed, too. Kathy.

hi cyrus, Those things you do are really relaxing and calming activities i do it too when the other methods to aid sleeping fails and they are very effective too to make a tired person get a good sleep. And lastly praying is the most effective the way to calm the body and the most matter is to have peace of mind and everything good follows after.

I also do those activities you mention and some is very effective on me while the others method does not seem to work on me. I make myself felt sleepy by listening to mellow music and by merely watching movies till i get tired. But over all to make me sleep is to feel happy and never think of troubles it is the most effective for me.

hi flower, Yeah, different people have different preferences as you mention the other method is effective to other but to you it would not work which only mean their is a differences in the method of effective sleeping if one work for them it is not guarantee to work for you so if you happen to discover which work for you just stick on it as your routine every night before sleep which is very effective to you.

I would recommend aromatherapy.I think it is the most effective way to soothe your nerves and drive away worries so that one can have a peaceful slumber.Just a few drops of your favorite aromatic oil can really comfort you and calm your senses,driving away all your worries and helping you to fall asleep easily.Choose from the wide range of fragrant oils available.Alternatively a soothing piece of music,perhaps only instrumental,can prove effective in helping you to get sleep easily.

Yeah, that is also a nice recommendation and it is very calming and soothing, so relaxing that anyone engage to attend each session brings a lot of inner calmness both to the body and mind. I also like the smell of aromatic oil especially those with a tint of eucalyptus or menthol it really bring along a lot of warm sensation and it really helps as you point out in soothing tensed muscles it really helps a lot. thanks:)

i usually listen to music and eat sweet food or else watch movies until i get tired. i also avoid drinking coffee except if i like to stay up late i would drink coffee. i also could sleep when i light aromatic candles it fill the room with good scent which aid me in having a good sleep. very effective for me.

hi janea, Yeah, those are the things which i do to if some of the methods of sleeping does not work some are effective in me but some fail me. I do not like to left candles while lighted so afraid it may be the start of fire in the house so i rarely do it and i rather spray scented perfumes in my room to make me more sleepy and with soothing music on the background.
