Did Ice Creams cause any infection for Teeth? How to prevent??

Hai all. For my brother's son teeth get damaged due to eat more unwanted snacks. my brother told due to Ice cream only it cause more effect. ice cream makes our teeth very damaged becz it is in very cool freezer. but i said no becz of chocolates only it had happened. we argument more about this, could u tell me what think really damaged our good teeth in gums how to prevent.
