I unfortunately have had 2 family members burned. The first was my husband 5 years ago, our fire pit backfired and he had 2nd and 3rd degree burns. Then just last week my son was scalded on hot water and received 1st degree burns. Something freaky was that they both were burned in the same place face, right ear, right shoulder and right chest. Hubby also got burned on his right hand. And both times they were sent to the burn unit at the downtown hospital and recieved great care. I just want to let you all know because you never know when you could get burned. And thankfully hubby recovered with really no scarring (just a little around the ear) and son is recovering now but in great spirits.

I use to be a flat roofer and we use hot tar which is 5times hotter then boiling water. About 4-5years ago I was mopping the tar down when I dropped the mop into the hot tar to hard and ended up splashing right side of my face and eye. I had so much tar of my face the doctors couldnt get my eye to open for hours. Then I spent 8 hours flushing it. Found out I burnt the middle of my eye ball as well as the bottom of my face on the right hand side. It took weeks of healing but all is pretty good for now but a have a few minor scars. Also be burnt by fire, smokes and a blow tourch we use on the roof. Im a very unlucky guy when it comes to fires or burning.

That's awful, and that is the kind of burn that keeps on burning as long as the hot tar is hot. How terrible for you. Sounds like you need to get into another line of work. Take care.

I have a cousin, that when he was 2 years old, he was burned over 98% of his body. They had a picture of him in the newspaper, all you could see that wasn't bandaged was 2 little nose holes and a slit for his mouth. They were having a cookout and he was getting up in a lawn chair and it rocked forward and he fell into the fire. To look at him today you would never know he had been burned..he was always a good looking kid and grew up into a very handsome man. He got by very well. He may have been too young for the inner scars from the fire to affect him as he grew up.
