Hello friends :) just a question. Since this community has a lot of members from different countries, I'd like to know. Have you ever received a racist remark from a random mylotter here? As you noticed my discussions are mostly social issues and from one of my discussion I received a discriminative remark. Won`t tell details here coz I already reported. I trust Mylot admins to do their job. We all know it`s bad to judge people based on their location, color OR nature but why racism is still an issue? Have you encountered someone here on MyLot who have given a racist remark on you? How did you confront him? Please share your experience! Thanks.

There are a lot of racists in mylot. They act very nicely, and say they are not racists, but when you go through their stupid discussions, you will find a lot of racists humour. These people are the ones you see regularly everyday. Sad to say.Of course what can you do if a racist remark is given against you, you can only report to the admn. who just delete the remarks. There is no penalty for the racist comment.

Hello Rameshkumaar. I havent been here very long and Ive noticed that there are people from many countries and I think its great. Im thinking that sometimes since we cant see each other, maybe sometimes what is said might be misinterpreted? Im not racist and I answer discussions according to the subject, not WHO started it. I like it when people from every country reply to my discussions.....isnt this how we get to know each other better? Im from Canada and I know a lot of people still think we're stupid, live in log cabins or igloos and ride in wagons pulled by horses lol. It doesnt matter to me what others think. I know who I am and I think of us Canadians as teenagers not really up to date on everything thats going on since as teenagers, we prefer having a good time. Ive read and heard a lot of things about the Vancouver, Canada Olympics. Yeah we do make mistakes, we can screw up badly at times, but the people I know who are there sure are having a good time and this is what everybody should concentrate on. Supporting the athletes from all over the world and have a good time together. So, Im sorry you see a lot of racism and it hurts your feelings. Try not to take is personal.....remember there are some people here who are NOT racists!!!

I have not personally received a racist remark on MyLot. I have seen discussions where various people are characterized as being a cheat or something else because they were from certain countries. I have tried to be mellow and point out that not all people from any place are alike. I also will not hesitate to report such a comment to the admin, because that is not what Mylot is about. I think we can all behave civilly. We do not need to call names, point fingers and blame people for things.

I've encountered so many before. I understand people are different, some are racist some are kind. What bothers me is the feeling the left in me when I am encountering racist. If you are sensitive you can't accept what they are saying to you. I don't remember reporting anyone of them on Mylot admin. I just let them say their piece, that is what they believe in anyhow. But if you have something to prove, you have to say your side to them, but they will never believe you. Do you know some of the foreigners hates Asian, they say that Asians are monkeys. But that is not true isn't it? You will just waste your energy on them. I just pray that God enlighten them of what they really believe in.

I dun think i have ever received any racism remarks about myself.. hehe ^_^ And even if i got it, i will just brush it aside.. It does not matter to me, if they wanna talk about me.. But when one is targetting about one particular group, which does not involve me, i will try to make it neutreul.. hehe ^_^ Nobody likes racist remarks, because it does hurts relationships and ties between friends etc.. So, instead of making enemies, why not gain one friend instead right?? haha =D

No, I have not received any racist remark till now. One thing I feel is that sometimes we ourselves inadvertently make some remarks which might rub off the wrong way on somebody hereā€¦of course this means we have to compromise on our true feelings, which everybody might not be comfortable with. And then again maybe somebody has said something which might be construed as racist but I play it down and point it out lightly enough, so that the other person understands and we laugh it off. But rarely have I come across anybody here who has been consciously and continuously racist against me.

I got one a few years ago from someone that didn't like Americans. I never reported it because I never said anything to brag about our country. Like this person tried to say that I did. I just sort of over looked it the best that I could and didn't worry about it.

Hey, Yes a lot of times . One which i remember came from an Australian. I responded to one of his discussion and he wasnt very happy what I wrote becoz it was all true. So he started using bad words and called me a Village Indian boy.. lol. He also said that people like me are not invited to his country. Another instance which i remember was with an English lady in yahoo many years ago. We were playing a pool match and she was losing, lol. She asked my nationality and when i replied she started calling me P aki ... P aki. Probably taking out her frustrations on me. Poor uneducated lady wasnt aware of the differance between an Indian and Pakistani Anyways treat them as a part and parcel of life. U meet some good people in life and along with them there comes some ugly ones too. Ignore and stay happy. Cheers, Tutul

No but I've received condescending responses, abusive responses, angry responses, responses that involved referral links, etc. No racism so far. Sorry you had to experience that.

Hey cecille! I am very sorry that you have had this happen to you! I am very much against anyone who dares to behave in any way that could be construed as racist! I have zero tolerance for this! I am not the type of person that would put up with type of behavior! I wouldn't take this type of behavior and let it go quietly! If I had seen it I would definitely have called it to the attention of the mylot admin as you said you have already done! You do not deserve this and should not stand for it! Just to let you know, I am sending you a friends request! If you need any help please let me know! I am in a bi-racial relationship as many people here already know and don't take any type of racist remarks without giving it right back! So, my dear sweet cecillecarmella, I have your back! Hugs, Opal

I've been on Mylot for a couple of months now, but haven't come across anything remotely racist...yet. I'm sure it's just a matter of time. Whenever you get this many personalities in the same place some are bound to clash. Sometimes it's born out of ignorance or hate. It also seems to come up as a misguided attempt to be funny. Even in day to day life most people aren't openly racist. They're closet racist. They are the worst because they know that behavior isn't acceptable so they hide it. On Mylot I tend to gravitate more towards the light-hearted, philosophical things. I come here to decompress. It's doubtful that I would run into race related issues. I've run across some gender bashing though! There's no shortage of broken hearts out there. Happy Mylotting:)

Hi cecillecarmela! Since I had been a member of mylot, I never encountered a racists. Probably because it is stated on the discussion guidelines that racism is prohibited. I just found mylotters to be friendly. Happy mylotting!

Hello cecille, How can i judge when you can't tell us the details of it? so that we would know how you were able to describe it as a racism. you know, it was a lot worse before mylot initiated the limitation of the ratings. worse, because they were more trolls back then that not only insults you but cause you to report your own topic and have it deleted. THere was this user before, he started insulting and making racist remarks on a Filipina mylotter which got me pissed, then others noticed it, happened to be a child molester. we fought this user and had him reported, am not sure if he's come back. but we put up a good word fight.

Racist? what's that? just kidding... i have not encountered any member who is racist here. Wait i recall someone who started a discussion claiming that the discussions seems not to be that interesting and that he missed his countrymen and wonder where they are, something to that effect... i'm sure he was not intending to sound racist but he received a lot of responses and oh boy! what a response he got. I can't really help but laugh at all the flak he got.

I haven't ever but I think that sometimes things are maybe phrased wrongly by mistake. It is easy to read it one way when it was meant in a completely different manner.
