well, if you're talking of a ship captain or a captain who is a pilot, i can share my five-cent worth of opinion. but regarding the names you mentioned, i don't know any of them from adam. for me, a captain is a master in his own domain. like a ship captain, he is appropriately called the master of the ship. so is the pilot, who is also called captain, as to the airplane. in short, a captain should be a good leader who is loved and respected by his subordinates. if not, he has no reason for staying in that position even for a minute. thanks, gany...

Yes, I do agree that but I think the best captain I have ever seen is Adam Gilchrist especially during the IPL matches for Deccan Chargers! He is really superb and spreads the enigma everywhere on the field! MSD has to learn from Gilly.. I also liked Wasim Akram when he was the captain of Pakistan...

The present captain whom I like are MS Dhoni, Graeme Smith, Andrew Strauss, Chris Gayle and Daniel Vettori. Dhoni handle the senior players and junior players very well without any differences in the team. He lead from the front by batting with cool head. His wicket keeping position is helping him to place the fielding very well. Graeme Smith had taken the captaincy at very young age and done a great job, he is solid opener and he leads from front. Andrew Strauss done wonders with the struggling England team, he won Ashes for England team and then beat South Africa in their own backward..Not easy to beat South Africa in South Africa in tests..He too is solid opener who leads from front. Chris Gayle is also a calm and influential captain for his country his explosive batting ability had won many matches for his side. Last but not least Daniel Vettori the captain of New Zealand is also one of the best left arm spinner and captain.. I think Yonuis Khan too is best captain for Pakistan presently, he handles the complicated team of Pakistan very well. Michael Clarke can become one of the best captain for Australia. Ponting is doing good job but not that effective as Steve Waugh or Mark Taylor..

So far the best international captains that the cricket world had were Clive LLoyd, Ricky Ponting, Hansie Cronje, Steve Waugh, Wasim Akram, Arjuna Ranatunga, Imran Khan, Stephen Fleming, Daniel Vettori and Graeme smith..As far as India is concerned, None can beat the place of "Haryana Hurricane", Kapil Dev. He is always the best captain that India had ever had...Hope you all agree with me...He is the best guide for our other Indian Captains..

I think that Mahendra Singh Dhoni is really a great captain and that with time, he will even achieve greater things in life. By looking at the way in which he took over captaincy when the old pros retired from Indian cricket speaks volume of his managing skills as he never lost a single test match for such a long time until the first test match played now with the recently drawn test series with South Africa. I think he can bring all the players to their potential whether it be a fresher or a senior and make them believe that they can play consistently for long time enough and that they are a bunch of great players together which constitutes a winning combination and an excellent team!!

well smith is also good captain. but it is difficult to captain the indian team and MSD done the job perfectly till now. So for me he is the best skipper i had ever seen. he is such a cool guy,no pressre he shows when everybody shows it. he had lost only one test match under his captaincy. So he is the best.

M.S. Dhoni is the best captain till that date.. but i think Sourav Ganguly was also best captain because Sourav teach us how to won.. in foreign.. countries..so now team india are on top positions in Test ranking.. have a nice day and keep mylotting always..

I think Ricky Ponting is the best captain. Australia has won three world cups under captainship of Ricky Ponting. No other country has won such world cups under captainship of only one person. MSD is also among one of India's best captains. India won first 'T20' world cup under captainship of MSD without a coach. Whatever India is today is due to good captainship of MSD.
