upper fan belt repacment

I need to replace the fan belt on my 1985 bmw 635i CS. It is the belt that goes around the fan housing and the alternator and i believe the water pump. My problem is that the fan itself is in the way to get the belt on. My question is do i have to remove the entire radiator and take of th fan blade in order to put this belt on or is there another way. Please help i cannot afford to have the car towed and pay a mechanic to do the work.
