You yawning ever gave up your tears?
Just as seeing or hearing someone else yawn makes us yawn.
Which is the real reason for that yawning is contagious?
You yawning when you're bored ,when you are sleepy, or don t yawning unless you see somebody that yawning??

Yawning is really contagious but I don't know why. Once I start I can't really stop, as I will feel more and more like yawning.
I usually yawn when I'm bored or when I'm sleepy, but being bored makes me sleepy, so I guess it's all related in some way.

Yawning is always contagious or so it is for me, Every time I see, hear, or even think of someone yawning I will end up yawning just like I am right now..twice since starting to respond..lol Funny how that happens..I yawn more when tired or bored then any other time..

Wow that is really funny because athough I just woke up from a nap and am no longer tired when I read the words is yawning contagious immediately I yawned. I remember years ago probably 15 years ago the lady who took care of my grandmother was the one who pointed out that if you see someone yawn it makes you yawn so she called it contagious as well. I have no idea what its about that causes it I think it must just be some kind of automatic response we get without our body planning it.

It's really odd, but for some reason when someone else yawns, I end up yawning too. I don't know the reasoning behind it. It just seems to be contagious and I can't help it when someone else yawns because it makes me yawn too even if I am not tired or bored.

Hi, icesmile. I have yawned when others would yawn too. It would make me feel very sleepy. I think it has an effect on someone that is tired that does not look tired. When I am very sleepy, my eyes do tend to water some. It has been like this for many years for me. I usually yawn when I am tired and sleepy. I never yawn just to be yawning.

Hi there Ice Smile. There have been studies last years about yawning and about the fact that there are about 78% chances of another person yawning when he sees one doing so. I personally believe that there is a chance of over 90% of yawning when you see a person doing so, especially in the morning when you are in the subway and people look like they would rather be at home sleeping than here.
Yawning is explained medically as a reason for leveling the pressure in the head (if i remember correctly) so it is perfectly fine to do so.

Hi, is contagious, and is unvoluntary too. I know that a yawn is a reflex of inhalation and exhalation that draws more oxygen into the bloodstream.
the doctors say that is our body needs to have more oxygen , so is a sign that blood, and in special brain need more oxygen.
But yawning is associated with boredom and sleeping from people.

hehehe its really me yawning contagious, they said that if you see a person yawning and that person near from you, you'll yawn without knowing even your not sleepy... they called it "friendly yawn" and some says if your losing air in your brain thats time you'll keep yawning, i dont know but that was the scientific explanation.

I really do think that yawning is contagious. I find that the times I yawn is when I am bored with something or someone. The other times I would just be tired from not having enough sleep the night before. I think I remember seeing on the news that if someone else yawns you are more likely to yawn too. I know it does sound kinda weird.

I think yawning is contagious.
If I yawn in front of my cat,he will yawn straight away.
It is a reflex action I think.
Even hearing the word 'yawning' makes me want to yawn.
When you are tired you are trying to get more oxygen and also if you aren't well but it must be something that is programmed into us as far as copying it is concerned.

Yeah..yawning is contagious... when I see somebody yawn, I am always tempted to do the same.. I make fun of my friend by yawning intentionally in front of them and they do the same..not only yawning..maybe you can try facing in front of some people who see you standing in front of them..then try cleaning you eyes like your trying to remove some mote..observe them, they will also do it..hahaha.. just try, it's funny..

I've heard that yawning is a way that our brain cools itself down. We breath in a lot of air at a time and it lowers the temperature in our heads. However, I sometimes find myself yawning continuously for a dozen of minutes. Is my brain really that hot then? I doubt. Don't know why, but I sometimes also start to yawn when I see or hear somebody doing that. That's strange.

It's really weird, and something I would like to know an explanation to, why yawning is so contagious
I yawn in all kinds of situations, like when I am bored or when I am tired. Even reading this discussion has given me the urge to yawn

I yawn when I have a headache. I mean I will yawn every 5 minutes. My grandma says that it's because it brings oxygen to the brain and the reason I have a headache may be not enough oxygen. I also yawn when others do. I think everyone does. It's something psychological. Same with hiccups. Only the first hiccup is real. The rest are just your brain repeating it's self.
