What type do you prefer - Touch Screen or Button keypad mobile phone?

Many mobiles are now coming with a touch screen facility in it as it has now become a trend to follow in the future. I have had a button keypad mobile phone of Sony Ericsson for some two years time and I liked it very much. Eventually, I lost it later and after sometime, I bought for myself a new Samsung Star WI-Fi Touch Screen phone. After using it, I found that it is very easy to operate with just using our fingers to click on the desired option. But it has just one disadvantage when it comes to playing games. Also, now few mobiles like Samsung Pro and Plus have come which have both features of touch screen and button keypad attached as a slider. I like the touch screen phone since it has a bigger screen. What type of mobile phone do you prefer to have?

I guess having both touchscreen and keypads is more comfortable. I once had a w960i which just got stolen recently, it had widescreen, good speakers, touchscreen capabilities and the normal cellphone keypads. It was so easy to use and I really started to love the phone until it got stolen and the I had to go back to keypads only again. I think some touchscreen phones are better but it really just depends on it's user-friendliness.

It is great to have a touch-screen mobile supporter. It is very sad that your such an expensive mobile was stolen. I also had my earlier button keypad mobile of K750i Sony Ericsson lost which was stolen by somebody in the first place due to which I had opted for touch screen to try some new variety and I now kinda like this very much. I had reported for my lost phone but still found no clues. Thanks for the Response and Have a nice day!!

I think keypad is good because it exercise your finger and if someone stolen it.You will never cry from it because it's cheapness while touchscreen is very expensive.

Well, honestly it is more easier to type with a keypad rather than touchscreen it is more faster, i think the different between two is touch screen look more stylish rather than keypad, more elegant, that's all, i don't think there's no other special or specific function about using touch screen for now

Ya, I agree it is very stylish to use and being the latest, many are buying it much faster to have one of their own collection. Some touch screen mobile phones have got functions like Vista as in Samsung Star mobiles where we have widgets which can be moved on the screen and also wide screen too. Thanks for the response and Have a nice day!!

I like my touchscreen. I also have a slider so I am able to use the keyboard for text messages. Touchscreen to me is so neat, it's seems so silly but it makes me feel like it's a more futuristic experience to get to touch the buttons and have them dial the phone for me.

incognito - I love it! U can turn off the touchscreen to make it a mirror. Inside is a full keyboard. The only down fall is that it has no CHIRP. dl
I just bought the new BOOST Incognito. I love it! It has a touch screen on the front and a full keyboard inside. Its created by Sanyo. The great think about it is that you can turn the touch screen off and it looks like a mirror. The only thing is that it doesnt have the chirp. dl

I like button phones more since i can type on them without even looking. The touch phones are very good looking and advance though. I might just buy one when I'm in the market for a phone. I tested the Samsung Star (since my mother has one), and found it quite good. The performance was adequately fast but I also experienced having it hang on me. I currently have two Samsung phones that aren't touch screen, but I surely am interested in buying a touch screen phone when I have money.

That it great to hear as till now, apart from just being unable to play enough games, I haven't faced much problems from having Samsung touch screen mobile. I think you should try for Nokia Music Express 5800 if you are into playing games on mobile phones as I was about to buy it , but due to falling short by some amount, I purchased Samsung Star Wi-Fi. Thanks for the Response and Have a nice day!!

I have been having the present phone for more than two and half years. I didn't change because I am shifting to a differnt country in a few months, permanently. So, it is not wise to invest a huge amount of money in a cellphone at this time. I am embarassed to show my phone out becuase most of my friends have good phones with lots of applications. I don't prefer touch screen, I am comfortable with normal keypad.

Don't feel embarrassed as it is just a phone and nothing more of a big thing in life. I too had a time when I earlier had a cool phone and then it got stolen and then for some time, I had to go using an ordinary phone, I do felt sad at times though. But I never felt shy and was using it, until I got enough money on the card to buy another new mobile after getting good grades in the exams. Thanks for the Response and Have a nice day!!

They both have their advantages but I prefer a button keypad. Touch screens are cool because they have more screen room and are good for accessing the internet but I don't like how small the keypad generally is when it's on the touch screen. On my brother's I-touch I end up constantly misspelling words and it's pretty annoying. I wouldn't mind one of those phones that flips open and has a small keyboard on it.

Ya, initially you tend to get misspelling errors while typing in a touchscreen mobile keypad. But along time with some little practice, you can get used to it and improve your typing in touch screen with almost no mistakes. I have experienced it and it has become even faster now to type with holding the mobile in landscape mode in both our hands and type rather than holding the button keypads phone in portrait mode and type. Thanks for the Response and Have a nice day!!

My phone has 2 screens, the outside one being a touchscreen, and the inside is not, but there is a qwerty keyboard when I open it ip. I am getting used to the touchscreen part of it now, as it is easy to use, but also, I have to be careful I don't touch something else that I don't want to, as that is very easy to do. I have had phones before that didn't have a touchscreen, and I find them much harder to use than the touchscreen ones. I like the touchscreen, and the net phone I buy, will be a touchscreen. Good luck to you and happy mylotting.

That's great, which mobile do you have? Sometimes, I too get carried away and when I have a simple phone in my hand, I try to operate it as a touchscreen and then realize that ohh, I have got used to operate touch screen mobiles now! Thanks for the Response and Have a nice day!!

I personally like touch screen phones a lot. Generally, I think touch is the future for pretty much any electronic device, be it computers, phones or even hardware. Of course, a lot of the touch screen phones out there aren't worth the cardboardbox they came in, but you just have to know which phone to choose. When choosing, it's important that you choose a phone with a decent feedback. The optimal touch interface mimics your touch with JUST the right pressure - hence letting you avoid typos and misplaced buttons presses. At the moment I've got a Nokia XpressMusic 5800, which I think is a great touch phone. I would prefer it over a classic button keypad phone anyday, because I think the touch interface adds a certain classic 'touch' to the phone itself. Of course, phones like iPhone and HTC Hero are some of the best touch phones out there - but they're also the most expensive ones. My point is that you CAN get a proper touch phone for a decent amount of money - such as the Nokia 5800 or the Samsung Touchwiz. Research the market before you buy though, or you might end up with some crap like Samsung Ultratouch. I love touch phones, and I'm sure we'll see nothing but touch phones on the cellular market in just a few years.

Same here!! I wish I could have waited some more time before buying the Samsung Star Wi-Fi touch screen mobile as I, too, like Nokia Express Music 5800 more. But nevertheless, I am happy as this phone kept up to my expectations and certainly better than a button keypad phone. Thanks for the Response and Have a nice day!!

I like both. I like the Blackberries and the full featured keyboards which are easier to use imo for texting, but I also like the ease of use of the touch screens. Take the Guitar Hero free download game, although you can play it on the Iphone and Blackberry, its alot more fun using the Iphone screen and gives you the feel of air guitar, much better than punching the keys. What I don't like is the touch screens, that have to be pressed in. ( like Blackberry Storm) You don't just touch this model, you have to press the screen in like its a ginat key, it doesn't seem as responsive. Not trying to put the model down, I realize that Blackberry has a new Storm2 model out, so I haven't tried it yet.

I haven't yet tried the Iphone touchscreen yet as neither of my friends or colleague have it. Although, I have used Nokia N97 mobile. Blackberry is a really expensive mobile and is mostly used for business stuff or office work. Thanks for the Response and Have a nice day!!

Hello acematthews71, I would preffer to have keyborad phone. Because its more lasting. You can drop your touch screen on the ground and say bye bye to it, andwith keyboard phone nothing will be wrong. Your choice :P

I personally don't like touch screen phones. I've used few different ones, latest being I-Phone 3Gs, at the end, I got myself blackberry 9700. I had blackberry pearl before & liked it. When I was in process of changing phones, I tried i-phone & didn't like it at all. Tried few other touch screen phones through out the years but never really cared for any of them.

I like both type of cell phone. If the design of the phone and the size suits the keypad, then either type will be good. I have mostly used button keypad and it is more common then the touchpad. I think the touchpads are more sensitive and vulnerable, that's why people dont buy these phones much becasue the touchpad becomes faulty often

i do not own a touchscreen phone but my friend has it and he has real problems playing games on it. Games cannot be transferred via bluetooth into that mobile. So i think i will stick with keypad phones given a chance.

I don't like the touch screen mobiles, they have so much more to go wrong and being more complicated, they would be harder to fix. I like to see how a thing works, then if it goes wrong ,there is at least a chance to fix it. I notice that some touch screen phones have very small on-screen keyboards and if you were a man with thick fingers, I think it would be hard to be precise when you typed with them. I do like the look of the newer phones but would much prefer a slide out keyboard aswell.

i prefer to use keypads because im used to it... i dont care if it is the trend today as long as i have a cellphone and i can use it for texting and the outgoing and incoming is working properly that would be fine with me..
