Christianity - well-meaning, but 2000 years out of date?

I don't mean to offend anyone with this, but I want to understand the different viewpoints for this. The Bible (new testament), as we know it, were written in gospels back at the height of the Roman Empire in the 1st-3rd century AD. Most forms of Christianity follow the Bible as their main source of dogma, but these religions, like many, have established rules which condemn anyone who does not follow them to eternal damnation, whether or not they believe in it. The biggest "sins" going at the moment are homosexuality, suicide and disbelief in a God. Homosexuality is treated as abnormal and abhorrent by most Churches, presumably because it challenges the ideals of Adam and Eve. Suicide is an even bigger sin (though strangely, martyrdom is not a sin). And last but not least, there is the disbelief in God, or even worse, the belief in a God / Gods other than the Christian one. I won't give any of my own opinions on this, because there is bound to be someone who will be horrendously offended by it, and would deny me free speech.

The Bible is not all about mortal and venial sins. You like several others have grossly misunderstood what Bible says. Again, it does not tell us that if you refrain from committing sins, you would go to heaven or if you happen to commit sins then you would definitely go to hell. Please remember you do not have to save yourself from committing sins through conscious motives. You do not have to master your opposing tendencies. In fact, only thing one has to do is to accept Lord Jesus Christ as his savior. Believe that Jesus is the Son of God and he came to take away the sins of the world. Praise Him and honor him. When you do so, the Holy Spirit comes and abides in your conscience. It is the Holy Spirit, which protects you from committing sin. It guides your thoughts and actions. Christianity is the only religion, which draws you closer to God, not through rituals, not through learning but through a simple belief in Jesus Christ. He himself had said I am the way, and the one who believes in me will have eternal life. Therefore, just believe in Him and forget all about seven deadly sins.

I am a christian but i do not take offence. There are many different churchs out there and every christian is not judgemental and condemning. If you are searching for a better understanding of the bible, read a scripture you don't quite agree with, then pray for understanding of what it means. God loves us all and understands that a lot of people are ignorant to his love and message, through the way that it may have been falsely represented. The only judge is God, that is who you have to report to. No one has the right to tell you if you will go to heaven or not. Please go to Biblegateway.com for over a hundred versions of the bible. Hope you find what you are looking for.
