The Chinese from Canton region are known for eating just about everything. There is a saying there, "A Cantonese would eat anything with four legs except a table. Anything that flies except an airplane." Alot of the Chinese in Chinatown came from this region Cheesy Many Asians eat cats and dogs. As for rats, maybe during a famine. One can't be too selective when starving and there are no government food stamps (big government in fact caused the famines). One time on a Chinese message board, a FOB Chinese posted a message asking where could he buy dog to eat in America. The flame war that erupted was most entertaining.

People tend to eat what their parents ate. In India the cow is sacred. I heard monkey meat is good. I've eaten raccoon.
