I resigned once. I thanked my former employer for the experience and the opportunity to work there in the letter. It wasn't a bad experience, and I remained friendly with my employer after the fact.

I moved to a different part of the country, but I do go back to visit and occasionally run into him. I am also friends with both of his sons.

when i left the company i worked for 13 yrs., i was sour but they all wish me good luck! I felt bad bec i was the only one who was not paid when the company offered early retirement. The owner knew that i am leaving anyway whether i be paid or not, so she did not approve for my payment. She gave me a big bag full of nice clothes instead as gift the day before my last day. The clothes sadly were a size bigger so i was not able to use them all. A few pcs i still have here, i wear at home-in fact i am wearing one right now, a Mark & Spencer Shirt. I remain friends from all employees and the owner too until this day.

Hi tigerlily, thanks for posting,I think you should not blab the information you want to leave to your owner, just make an application for early retirement is ok,so they should pay the early retirement fee to you.clothes are quite good for me ,hehe,I never received a gift from my company but a pencil, good luck and have a nice day!

well..in almost 90 % of the cases.. resignations are ugly.. unless, you are terminally ill or something, it always end in the blame game..women would get a better treatment over excuses lke marriage or pregnancy.. but usually the boss would pressurize you to reconsider.. if it fails, you would be abused, threatened, then made to understand what no good you are.. how incapable.. lacking caliber.. your whole morale goes down.. everybody feels pretty messed up..

it is not a good way to say goodbye (by quarreling) . a letter of resignation is a must. and you have to state that you are happy to be with the company but sad to leave. things like that. state your point, straight to the point. don't mention below the belt words, bragging about your achievements etc. don't attack the management. just say goodbye and thank you.

in my previous job my boss informed me that i already incurred a lot of late and absences and that she can no longer help me about that coz we need to follow company policy about late and absences, and so she told me to resigned before the company terminates me. and so i did, i just put it there that i need to resigned coz i need to process my visa for possible employment abroad. though i know that my boss know the truth but just to m\have a clean image with my co employee i just make it an excuse. and so when i left, i had a farewell party.

well I was once employed as an encoder. The price is good but I encountered conflict with my schedule at schools as I have difficulty in balancing it because I am now a candidate to graduates this coming April, sadly I resign. My employee and my co-workers were sad about that but I managed to talk the pros and cons of it. They were glad about my perseverance to graduate first and hoping to be with them soon.
