hi mylot friends, I know that most of the Hindu ladies must have Tulasi plant in their homes, having Tulasi plant in home and they devote the plant daily with pooja and dhoops, the Tulasi leaves also using as medicine and in Utter Pradesh ,people are cultivating Tulasi as commercial crops and they are exporting the dried Tulasi leaves to the other countries, bried description of Tulasi plant as mentioned below Tulsi is native throughout the Old World tropics and widespread as a cultivated plant and an escaped weed.[4] It is cultivated for religious and medicinal purposes, and for its essential oil. It is widely known across South Asia as a medicinal plant and an herbal tea, commonly used in Ayurveda, and has an important role within the Vaishnavite tradition of Hinduism, in which devotees perform worship involving Tulsi plants or leaves.

Hindu ladies keep tulasi plant at home and do pooja for that. It is said to be giving soubhagyam to ladies, in other words prosperity, long life of husband and children's well being. We do pooja to vishnu and his incarnations with thulasi leaves. There are two type of thulasis viz. vishnu thulasi and krishna thulasi. The one which you uploaded image is vishnu thulasi, green in colour and the krishna thulasi leaves will be a bit red added to it. They have cold controlling medicinal value and we give the juice to children to cut the phlegm.

Hi yugasini! I have never heard of this plant before! I would be very interested in learning more about it! I would like to know if it can be found anywhere here in the US? I have alot of Hindu friends that live in my neighborhood! It sounds like a wonderful plant that is worth having! I have a neighbor who is Hindu that owns a store here and will have to ask him about it and see if his wife has such a plant and if maybe she can give me a piece of it so I can start my own plant! Or if he knows where I can get such a plant! I am always interested in plants that are used for medicinal purposes! I will ask him when I see him again! Thanks for the information!
