Give up or keep on going when you meet the situation like mine?

My mother today said a sentence to me that you can not do your major well neither your second language Japanese.Though it maybe just a joke ,it really hurts me.Because these days i finally work my courage to do my job well and know that i should study hard for my dream.But what she has said makes me upsad and lose my heart again.I don't know wheather i should give up or keep on going,because i am becoming to doubt my own ability.........What will you do when you are in my shoes?

I say that you should keep on working hard or you should work even harder and prove you mom that she is wrong. Make her proud, cases like this should not be a reason to give up, it should be a reason to work harder and also prove to yourself that you are more than what you are now.

i think you are really sad right now because you don't get the support your mother should have given you. but love yourself more. know what you want and work for it. the hardest enemy you have is yourself so be a friend to yourself and work hard for your dreams. don't get discourage, it will not take you anywhere but to loneliness and broken dreams.

yeah..i think you are right.I get up earlier and work harder than what i did before.I make a plan everyday and write my diary every night....I just wanna change something ,my life,my future ;i wanna be closer to my dreams.I love my mother,which will never change...maybe i should prove myself to change my mother's initial thought....Thank you for your encouragement...

Is what she said true? Is it kind? Is it necessary?
If it is none, keep on with your major. But if it is any of the above, decide whether she is right or not before deciding how to proceed.

well it really hurts and it pains me a lot too. because it was come from my mothers mouth those words that could feel you down. i lose my confidence after i heard that. she should rather say oh you can make it i believe in you but she never said it. if im on your shoe. i will think about it until the pain is gone. i will be trying my best to aim what i want to do and to become successful on that so that my mother will get humiliated of what she said.

and i want to say that study major at college is able to work ,but in fect we are eary to find own major is useness when we go to work.
so i think your mother said the sentence are not want to make you upsad and hit your heart.you need to know the situiation right now.
