Do you know that HPV is an STD

"Genital HPV infection is a sexually transmitted disease (STD) that is caused by human papillomavirus (HPV)" That is from the Center for Disease Control. All the ads I see on TV about telling someone that a virus can cause cancer, and that there is now a vaccine, no one mentions that "The surest way to eliminate risk for genital HPV infection is to refrain from any genital contact with another individual. For those who choose to be sexually active, a long-term, mutually monogamous relationship with an uninfected partner..." Why don't they want to tell the world the WHOLE truth? http://www.cdc.gov/std/HPV/STDFact-HPV.htm

My doctors thought I had cervical cancer when I was only 17 years old, what I find most fascinating is that he mentioned HPV when explaing what factors can be invloved (I did not have HPV) but I find it very discomforting to hear that this is an STD. The doctor nevered mentioned it when he explained what HPV is, and the TV commercials never once explain this!! Thanks for letting us know!
