I understand that bankruptcy is a painful procedure. If you have too much debt and it is growing so much that you are no longer be able to bear it, file a bankruptcy is a the ultimate choice if there is no alternative. So, can you file a bankruptcy on your own, or will it be better to consult a professional like a lawyer? How much will it be cost to file a paperwork? Some say the flat rate will be around $1,700, that will be depending on where you live too. Anyone has experience like that?

You are better off to consult with a bankrutcy lawyer or legal aide. They will be able to guide you in the right direction. Some items should not be filed on bankrutcy and as far as the cost to file that all depends on the legal aide that you recieve. I know when my husband filed (before we were married) it did not cost him but like $250. But his case was pretty straight forward and he did not have an excessive amount of creditors.
