I know quite a few people that always have to buy stuff the minute it hits the shelves. When flat screen TV"S came out they had to have one right away, they always have to have the newest Phones and when the new Sketchers Tennis shoes came out they had a pair the next day. I always wait a couple month and then you can get all that stuff way cheaper than when it first comes out. Those Flat Screen TV's started out costing thousands now you can get them half price. Are you one of those people that have to have the newest things right away? Why not wait a while till they cheaper

Hi Missy, I always prioritize the stuff needed to be bought. but if i want to treat or reward myself for something worth rewarding, i will squeeze in the budget and have it. but priorities will always be priority for me.

I really would need to save up if I wanted to get something new and by that time it's already old again.

hehehe that's true. at least you already have something or savings just in case you change your mind for another item--you have the money to buy it. although it is intended for another stuff but the good thing is you have a ready money to buy what you want for the moment.

I wouldn't buy it period! New stuff is usually overpriced junk that's only half tested & expected to either break or be obsolete with a few months. I don't have the money to throw away in such a fashion.

I am a person who always wait for the new products had their specials something like a year or two later. The price of the product will be 50-60% off the original price by that time. And sometimes I will buy it when it come straight out of the shelf like my son's books those things will go out of stock quick. So it really depends if it is necessary to have it. Like TV, Shoes other gadget I am not a follower, I do look at them just to know the trend but not to own them personally.

I am one of those that holds out until the prices drop. I do know those that will run right out and spend a lot more than if they have just waited a couple of months. I recently got the flat screen TV but it was a fraction of what they were when they first come out.

I love new things as much as anyone else. I'm saving up for a flat screen tv! I think it comes down to security and sense of self for some people. By getting the latest and greatest, they have something to brag about. But they likely also have major credit card bills too! I'm like you, I wait abit til the prices go down and the product has proven itself. I'm me and I'm not trying to impress anyone with material things. I have many nice things but I get them when it's cost effective to do so. I have no credit card bills as they are paid in full every month and that is more important to me. Now my only weakness is handbags and those I budget for as well but I will scrimp on some things so I can get the one I want faster! And when I get a new one, I often will consign one of my others. I have expensive taste and take great care with them so usually get a very good amount back on them. And they tend to be more of the classic types but the latest trend too. I get at least 2 or 3 a year so that's not even that excessive.

I don't have any credit cards so I can't buy anything anyways if it's too much money. That's a good thing I guess. So I wait till it becomes cheap and by that time they already came out with a newer model .

If I do have more than enough money to buy that stuff why not? If not, then no choice but to wait until it becomes affordable.

LOL omg no!!! In fact I STILL dont even own a cell phone...never have...and like you said its better to wait until they are cheaper..once the hype wears off of a new product you can get them for a better price OR while the hype is goin on you can find the same product by another company for less than 1/2 the cost. Of course with SOME items you dont want to do that becuase the quality woulndt be as good particularly with some electronics..

Wow, I thought I was the only 1 without a cell phone. I still not have a flat screen TV as a matter of fact my TV's are like 20 years old. They still have the push buttons and the knob but they are hooked up to cable and are working just fine.

NO I am not that type that always wants to have the latest technology or the latest brand when it comes to mobile and iphones or the latest fashion in clothes. I prefer to wait a bit and get things cheaper. I love computers but if I had to buy a new computer or upgrade it as soon as something new gets out I would have ended up bankrupt. In the world of computers a few months old computer is already labelled as old.

I appreciate new technology but I don't always go for new stuff that I don't really need...maybe because I am no too keen on super duper specifications I would only buy one if I need and want it but as you mentioned, they go for really half prices after a long time. I remember the Playstation 3 and it used to cost 30,000 (USD 652) to 35,000 (USD 761) pesos here in the Philippines. Now, I see that some are sold for as high as 21,000 (USD 457) to as low as 14,000 (USD 304) pesos. My brother and I are planning to buy one soon. As with other items, I will also wait for the price to go down even if it would take longer because I go for practicality. I think buying new stuff as soon as they are out would be such a waste of money. And in some cases, it's just a show off by some people. But again, as I don't really mind about very high tech specs, I would settle for the earlier versions and would change to a newer model when that thing is already outdated. I think 1 year wouldn't mean that last year's model was very outdated and useless. It's a matter of what a person uses the item for and what that person's perspective on quality is.

That's a good point, if it's something you need for work or to make money than I guess you need to get it while it's hot

I do not or I am not the type who needs to have the latest stuff. I would always weigh things out first if I really need it and would it just not benefit me but others. Or I also weigh things out if I can use it in other ways like for example a cellphone. Can I use it to go online, is it easy to use to in terms of calling and texting and etc. But I really do not go out and buy the newest editions of anything because it is not important to me.

Same here, I go and buy things if I need them or if something breaks not be course it's the newest fad

No, I don't. Actually I would wait because I would like to know about reviews from other users and also, for the price to lower down. Of course one would argue that waiting = time wasted and money can't buy back time. So it's really depends on whether I am in such a hurry to have that newest thing. If not, then sometimes it better to wait because price will most likely fall then increase.

That's another good reason to wait...get some reviews first

Goodness - we NEVER have the newest things! We've only recently replaced the television we bought when we first married more than 20 years ago! At the moment I am looking longingly at electronic book readers like Amazon's Kindle but I know that if I wait for a while they will come down in price. Not only that, technology moves on at such a pace that in a year's time they will be half the price and have twice the technology.

It seems like the minute you buy a new phone or TV they come out with a newer model. My TV's are about that old too.
