How old were you when you first wore your glasses?

In a discussion with my colleagues, it seemed that most of them got glasses at around the same age - about 12-13 years old. I got mine at 13. I'm asking this as I see my nephew needing glasses at 4 years old.

I was about 16 years old when I first use eyeglasses. My vision was perfect during my childhood years, but I love to read, watch closer to the television and became exposed to the computer, as a result, I needed prescription glasses during my teenage years. I kinda hate wearing them coz I feel awkward and ugly, so by the age of 20, I bought my first pair of contact lens.

Yes, contact lens are great, but the first time I wore glasses, I was kind of apprehensive as people did say things like 'four eyes' and stuff like that. Once you got over that, and in the overall scheme of things, it is a small thing, things got better as it became part of you.

I knew I needed them at around 13 or 14, but didn't get them until I was in my early twenty's.

I think I was around 40 or 50 years old at that time. Until now, I only use them when I am reading.
